AMSTERDAM- World’s oldest carrier still in operations, KLM (KL) is enhancing its trans-Atlantic network by introducing a direct flight between Amsterdam (AMS) and Portland (PDX), Oregon.
Beginning October 27, 2024, KLM will operate flights three times a week during the winter and five times a week during the summer. This new route marks KLM’s 21st direct destination in North America.
KLM Amsterdam to Portland Flight
KLM is set to take over Delta Air Lines (DL)’ service between Amsterdam and Portland, Oregon. Delta, a partner in the trans-Atlantic joint venture with KLM, has been operating this route for 15 years.
KLM will fly three times a week on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays between Schiphol and Portland during winter. In summer 2025, KLM will increase frequency to five times a week, flying on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
These flights will be operated by the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. The passengers can expect 30 seats in World Business Class, 21 seats in Premium Comfort Class, and 224 seats in Economy Class.

Winter Flight Schedule:
- KL615: Departs from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) at 10:25 a.m. and arrives at Portland International Airport (PDX) at 11:25 a.m. local time.
- KL616: Departs from Portland International Airport (PDX) at 1:25 p.m. local time and arrives at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) the next day at 7:50 a.m. local time.
Summer Flight Schedule (2025):
- KL615: Departs from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) at 10:40 a.m. and arrives at Portland International Airport (PDX) at 11:30 a.m. local time.
- KL616: Departs from Portland International Airport (PDX) at 1:30 p.m. local time and arrives at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) the next day at 7:55 a.m. local time.
Portland, the capital of Oregon, is a year-round destination renowned for its natural beauty, including Mt. Hood, Columbia River Gorge, and Forest Park.
The city also boasts an award-winning culinary scene and is a significant business hub, home to leading companies in the sportswear, chip, automotive, and healthcare industries.
Furthermore, this is one of the first international route announced by the airline for this year.
