GURUGRAM- Tata Group-owned low-cost carrier, Air India Express (IX) has announced the cancellation of various flights in the Kerala-Middle East sector.
According to a circular sent to travel agents, the airline has canceled several flights up to the end of May.
Air India Express Cancels Some Flights
The Kozhikode (CCJ)-Muscat (MCT) flights on May 29 and 31, and the Muscat-Kozhikode flights on June 30 and June 1, have been canceled, reported KeralaKaumudi.
Additionally, flights from Thiruvananthapuram (TRV) to Muscat and Muscat to Thiruvananthapuram on May 30, as well as flights from Kannur to Muscat and Muscat to Kannur (CNN) on May 31, are also canceled.
The airline has further announced that some flights in June will be merged. Specifically, the Muscat-Kozhikode and Muscat-Thiruvananthapuram flights on June 8 and 9 will operate as combined services.
Last week, five Air India Express flights from Kannur were also canceled, affecting routes to Sharjah (SHJ), Dammam, Dubai, Riyadh (RUH), and Abu Dhabi (AUH). Additionally, two flights from Nedumbassery were suspended.
Earlier reports indicate that Kannur airport incurred a loss of five crores due to the Air India (AI) Express cabin crew strike, which disrupted the travel plans of over four thousand passengers.
The strike was resolved after discussions in Delhi (DEL) between the employees’ association and Air India representatives, overseen by the Chief Labor Commissioner (Central). During these talks, Air India management agreed to address the employees’ demands.
Initially, 30 employees received dismissal notices for causing passenger inconvenience, company embarrassment, and significant financial loss. However, following the negotiations, these notices were retracted.
