HUNGARY- According to a statement from Wizz Air (W6) Holdings reported by Proactive Investors, there has been a notable increase in passenger numbers during March, partly due to the resumption of flights to Israel.
The FTSE 250-listed airline stated that nearly 4.8 million passengers traveled with them during the month, reflecting a 12% rise compared to the previous year.
Wizz Air Israel Flights Boost Traffic
In the meantime, flights to Tel Aviv (TLV), Israel, resumed from six bases, and additional routes are scheduled to reopen in April, May, and June. Approximately 6% of Wizz’s capacity was utilized at the time of its closure in early October following the start of the Israel-Hamas conflict.
However, in early March, Wizz had already announced that it would resume operating flights to Israel from Budapest, Sofia, Bucharest, Krakow, London, and Rome.
The month’s capacity was about 5.3 million seats, up 13.6% from the previous year; nonetheless, this resulted in 1.3% fewer average load factors (70.8%).
Looking ahead, Wizz confirmed special flights for the 2024 UEFA Euros in Germany, with fans attending the football competition probably driving up demand.
