The summer schedule announcement includes direct flights from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (AMD) to various destinations in these regions and beyond. This development is sure to satisfy the increasing wanderlust among travelers from Gujarat.
New Routes From Ahmedabad
The summer schedule recently released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will be effective from March 31 to October 26, 2024, featuring direct flights to various international destinations such as Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Jeddah.
Travel industry analysts believe that this will significantly enhance connectivity. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport directly connects to 36 domestic and international destinations.
According to insider information, Thai Air (TG) is expected to increase the number of weekly flights to Bangkok. At the same time, Air India Express (IX) plans to introduce a direct flight to the same destination.
Air Asia (AK) also anticipates inaugurating a direct route to Kuala Lumpur. Akasa Air (QP) will likely initiate a direct flight to Jeddah, benefiting Haj pilgrims traveling to Mecca.
SVPI Airport, witnessing the movement of 250 aircraft daily, already offers direct connections to several destinations including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah (UAE), Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Kuwait, Gatwick, London (England), Bangkok (Thailand), Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), and Doha (Qatar).
In addition to international routes, there are plans to launch direct flights to Nanded (Maharashtra) via Star Air. Sources indicate that Vistara might introduce direct flights to Goa and Bengaluru from Ahmedabad, while IndiGo is expected to initiate a direct route to Hirasar Airport in Rajkot.
This summer schedule marks a 16% increase in flight frequency from Ahmedabad compared to the previous year.
