BENGALURU- Star Air (S5), India’s largest regional carrier, has taken the delivery of the 4th Embraer E175 aircraft on March 13, 2024. This concludes the order for four 76-seater Embraer-jets taken on lease from Nordic Aviation Capital.
Embraer’s sales director for Southeast Asia and Indonesia, Vasuki Prasad, shares insight on how Star Air is increasing its net across India. Further, he conveyed perspicuity on Star Air’s exclusive routes.
Star Air Welcomes Final E175
Star Air took delivery of the fourth Embraer E175 after almost 7 months. It took the 3rd E175 in August 2023.
The Embraer E175 is a cutting-edge regional jet recognized for its quiet operation, advanced features, and impeccable safety history. Star Air underscores its commitment to sustainability through the advanced environmental performance of the Embraer E175LR.

With its fleet comprising 5 ERJ 145s, the airline now boasts 9 all-Embraer jet aircraft. It serves 27 city pairs and recently announced the addition of 5 more city pairs from Nanded (NDC) (shown in grey on the map below).
Out of the 27 city pairs, 17 are RCS-UDAN routes (highlighted in cyan), while the remaining 10 are non-RCS UDAN routes, marked in red.
Among these 10 routes are those that were previously RCS UDAN routes but have extended operations beyond the subsidy and exclusivity period. Examples include:
- AMD to IXG
- BOM to IXG
- BLR to GBI
Ghodawat Enterprises Pvt. Ltd., also known as Star Air, is an Asian scheduled full-service carrier presently operating out of Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore, India.
Star Air operates under the IATA code S5 and the ICAO code SDG. Established in 2017, the airline is relatively new in the industry and has been operating for the last five years.
