Leasing Aircraft
The decision to lease more aircraft comes as the airline struggles with the grounding of around 70 aircraft due to Pratt and Whitney engine issues.
This month, IndiGo reportedly signed an agreement with Qatar Airways (QR) to lease 5 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
Earlier, IndiGo proactively retained 14 of its older Airbus A320ceo aircraft. Further, they extended leases for 36 more planes.
Subsequently, in August 2023, IndiGo leased 10 A320neo aircraft from BOC Aviation to fulfill the staggering demand arising from the festive travel quarter.
