SYDNEY- Australian flag carrier Qantas (QF) has recently submitted updates to its scheduled international operations (US and South Africa) for the Northern summer of 2024.
These adjustments, reflecting changes made in the inventory since late December 2023 (as reported on AeroRoutes on 29DEC23), are outlined in the most recent update to its international service modifications, excluding Trans-Tasman routes, as of 13 FEB 24.
Qantas US and South Africa Flights
Sydney – Johannesburg:
- Commencing 08 JUL 24, the Boeing 787-9 service will be maintained at 6 weekly flights, preventing the initially planned reduction from 6 to 4 weekly in August/September. From 01 AUG 24 to 12 AUG 24, there will be an increase from 6 to 7 weekly flights. Starting 30 SEP 24, the Airbus A380 will replace the 787-9, a change from the previous plan starting 08 JUL 24.
Melbourne – Los Angeles:
- Effective 14 JUL 24, the frequency will be reduced from 9 to 7 weekly, with no changes. The A380 service will persist at 2 weekly flights instead of the previously planned increase to 6.
Sydney – Auckland – New York JFK:
- From 14 AUG 24 to 09 OCT 24, the 787-9 service will remain at 4 weekly flights, unchanged from the initially proposed increase to 7 weekly. Starting at 10 OCT 24, there will be an elevation from 4 to 6 weekly flights.
Sydney – Los Angeles:
- Effective 18 JUL 24, the frequency will be reduced from 8 to 7 weekly instead of the previously proposed increase to 9 weekly. The A380 will operate 1 daily flight, with the additional 2 weekly flights by 787 removed.
Previous Int’l Flight Changes
Previously reported changes:
- Sydney – Bangkok Suvarnabhumi: Starting from 31MAR24, Finnair A330-300 will replace Qantas A330-300.
- Sydney – Honolulu: From 31MAR24, 787-9 will replace A330-300, operating 5 times a week.
- Sydney – Perth – Paris Charles de Gaulle: Commencing 12JUL24, 4 weekly 787-9 flights will be operated (reduced to 3 weekly from 18AUG24). Paris was last served until October 2004.
- Sydney – Port Moresby: Effective 01APR24, 2 weekly flights with 737-800 will be introduced (Last served between Feb 1986 and Oct 1987).
- Sydney – Singapore: Starting 31MAR24, Finnair A330 will continue to operate 6 of the 7 weekly nonstop terminator flights.
