BENGALURU- Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the cutting-edge Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC) campus at Aerospace Park in Devanahalli, near Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (BLR).
With an investment of Rs 1,600 crore, this 43-acre campus stands as Boeing’s largest venture outside the US.
Boeing Facility To Be Inaugurated by PM Modi
According to a statement from the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Boeing’s new facility in India will play a pivotal role in collaborating with the dynamic startup, private, and government ecosystem in India.
It aims to contribute to the development of next-generation products and services for the global aerospace and defense industry.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will launch the Boeing Sukanya program, designed to facilitate the entry of more girls from across India into the burgeoning aviation sector.
The program is designed to offer girls and women across India the opportunity to acquire essential skills in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields, paving the way for careers in the aviation sector.
For young girls, STEM Labs will be established at 150 planned locations, fostering interest in STEM careers. Additionally, the program will extend scholarships to women undergoing pilot training.
$100 Million Investment in India
Last year, Boeing pledged a $100 million investment in infrastructure and training programs to nurture pilots in India, prompted by Air India’s firm orders for over 200 Boeing jets, including 20 787 Dreamliners, 10 777Xs, and 190 737 MAX narrowbody aircraft.
With Bengaluru’s expansion toward the north, Devanahalli is emerging as the aerospace industry hub, given its proximity to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) and the upcoming Blue Metro line (KR Pura – Yelahanka – KIA), expected to be operational by 2026.
Boeing’s India operations, headquartered in Delhi, include field service offices in Mumbai, Hindan, Rajali, and New Delhi, along with the rapidly growing Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC) in Bengaluru and Chennai.
Prime Minister Modi is slated to arrive at KIA in Bengaluru at 2:10 pm on January 19. In preparation for the visit, Bengaluru traffic police have announced traffic diversions on Hennur – Bagalur Road (new airport road) and other routes leading to KIA from 8 am to 6 pm on January 19.
