GURGAON- SpiceJet (SG), a low-cost Indian carrier, is scheduled to inaugurate non-stop flights linking Ayodhya (AYJ) with three major Indian cities starting February 1, 2024.
Commencing from the mentioned date, SpiceJet flights will establish direct connections between Ayodhya and Mumbai (BOM), Bengaluru (BLR), and Chennai (MAA). The airline plans to deploy its 189-seater Boeing 737 aircraft on these routes.
SpiceJet Ayodhya Flights
In a recent announcement, SpiceJet revealed its intention to operate a special flight from Delhi to Ayodhya on January 21.
The special flight is scheduled to accommodate passengers attending the Ram Temple consecration ceremony on January 22.
SpiceJet, in a press statement, expressed its intention to establish connections between Ayodhya and various other major cities across India in the near future.
Shilpa Bhatia, Chief Commercial Officer at SpiceJet, stated, “We are delighted to announce the introduction of non-stop flights linking Ayodhya with Chennai, Bengaluru, and Mumbai. These new flight services align with our commitment to improving connectivity and providing passengers with convenient travel options. SpiceJet remains dedicated to expanding connections between Ayodhya and more Indian cities, offering non-stop flights for a seamless and comfortable travel experience.”
Other Flight Options
IndiGo (6E) recently unveiled direct flights connecting Mumbai and Ayodhya, effective from Monday, January 15. Additionally, the airline initiated direct flights between Delhi and Ayodhya. Air India Express (IX) is scheduled to commence operations on this route on January 16 (Tuesday).
The inauguration of the newly constructed Ayodhya Airport, named Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, took place on December 30, 2023, with the Prime Minister officiating the event.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath anticipates the arrival of 100 chartered flights at Ayodhya Airport for the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple.
Surge in Ticket Fares
As the Ram Temple consecration ceremony approaches, flight prices have surged significantly.
Indiver Rastogi, President & Group Head of Global Business Travel at Thomas Cook (India) and SOTC Travel revealed that airfares to Ayodhya from key cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai range approximately between ₹20,000 to over ₹30,000.
For the week of January 22nd, direct return fares to Ayodhya are 30-70% higher compared to the average return fares to the closest hubs, including Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Gorakhpur, according to Rastogi.
