These non-stop services to these destinations contribute to Etihad’s network of Indian gateways, now totaling 10. Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad, expressed, “We have established an impressive array of non-stop routes connecting India and Abu Dhabi, offering customers convenient access to our expanding network without the need to transit through one of the major Indian hub airports.”
In 2023, the airline reintroduced services to Kolkata. Additionally, it augmented the frequency of flights to Mumbai and Delhi, two of its most popular routes, expanding from two flights per day to four flights per day.
Neves commented, “Effortless and pragmatic connections at Abu Dhabi ensure our guests can readily access destinations across the GCC, Europe – including our four daily services to London – and North America. Furthermore, they have the opportunity to enjoy a superb stopover in Abu Dhabi as an integral part of their journey.”
Looking ahead to 2024, Etihad has already disclosed plans for new flights to Boston, USA, commencing on March 31, to Nairobi, Kenya, on May 1.
The summer schedule encompasses the introduction of a non-stop service to Nice, France, and direct flights to the Greek Isles of Mykonos and Santorini.
Popular Routes
Etihad Airways GM of the Indian subcontinent, while speaking with DH, stated that London Heathrow (LHR) and the United States (especially New York JFK) stand out as the top preferences for their Indian passengers.
The travel demand between the UAE and India is rapidly recovering and demonstrating continuous growth. Indian travelers are increasingly drawn to luxury experiences, cultural exploration, and international destinations.
The consistent popularity of routes to JFK facilitated by the introduction of the Airbus A380 and Abu Dhabi’s US pre-clearance services has contributed to the sustained appeal of these destinations throughout the year.
Etihad is actively strengthening its network, expanding routes, and optimizing its fleet. Our efforts include increasing capacity to international destinations and introducing new ones, such as Nice on the Cote d’Azur.
India stands out as one of the largest and most influential markets for Etihad globally. This year’s celebration of our two-decade anniversary underscores the tremendous potential inherent in this market.
The aviation market in India is highly competitive, featuring a multitude of airlines operating both domestically and internationally.
