SYDNEY- In recent days, Qantas (QF) has submitted modifications to its service schedule for North America starting July 2024. The airline has adjusted its previously announced plans for service expansion, as reflected in the currently available flights for reservation.
As of December 28, 2023, the anticipated changes applicable to flights scheduled on or after October 27, 2024, are outlined as follows.
Qantas New York and Los Angeles Flight
Starting from July 14, 2024, reservations for First Class on Qantas A380 flights from Melbourne to Los Angeles are now limited to Day 16 from Melbourne and Day 46 from Los Angeles. The specific flight details are as follows:
- QF093 from Melbourne to Los Angeles at 1130, arriving at 0850 (A380) on Day 16.
- QF093 from Melbourne to Los Angeles at 1130, arriving at 0850 (Boeing 787-9) on Day 46.
- QF094 from Los Angeles to Melbourne at 2340, arriving at 0830+2 (A380) on Day 7.
- QF094 from Los Angeles to Melbourne at 2340, arriving at 0830+2 (Boeing 787-9) on Day 7.
The previous plan involved a reduction in overall service from 9 to 7 weekly flights, with A380 operations increasing from 2 to 6 weekly, comprising 6 weekly A380 flights and 1 weekly Boeing 787-9 flight.
Changes from Sydney
For the Sydney to Auckland to New York JFK route, effective August 14, 2024, 2 out of the 7 weekly flights are no longer available for reservation. The flight details are as follows:
- QF003 from Sydney to Auckland to New York JFK at 0905, 1615, and 1630 (Boeing 789) on Days 26.
- QF004 from New York JFK to Auckland to Sydney at 1930, 0500+2, and 0835+2 (Boeing 789) on Days 26.
The initial plan involved an increase in frequency from 4 to 7 weekly flights starting from August 13, 2024.
For the Sydney to Los Angeles route, effective July 12, 2024, reservations for QF017/018 are closed, while QF011/012 continues with its daily A380 service. The flight details are as follows:
- QF011 from Sydney to Los Angeles at 1715, arriving at 1400 (A380) daily.
- QF012 from Los Angeles to Sydney at 2230, arriving at 0635+2 (A380) daily.
Initial proposal: The frequency was set to rise from 8 to 9 weekly flights, with QF017/018 featuring an increase in 787-9 service from 1 to 2 weekly flights.
