GURUGRAM- Tata-owned Air India (AI) has implemented its recently introduced global brand identity, initiating the comprehensive transition to the new look across digital and online platforms.
Air India Rollout Global Brand Identity
The new brand identity, unveiled in August 2023, revolves around the ‘Vista,’ Air India’s logo icon symbolizing boundless possibilities and progressiveness.
It showcases Air India’s updated brand colors, including Air India red, aubergine, rose gold, and gold accents.
The design incorporates custom iconography and a unique Air India Sans font to convey the essence of a bold, modern, and world-class airline with an Indian heart.
The transformational spirit is now evident through:
- A revamped website, airindia.com, and a new mobile app: Air India guests can now experience a more intuitive online journey with streamlined booking processes, enhanced performance, novel features, and a refreshed design showcasing the airline’s new brand identity. Air India’s Kochi and Silicon Valley teams crafted the redesigned website and mobile app.
- New social media avatar: Air India’s social media presence has been updated to align with the new brand identity, offering captivating content and an interactive space for guests to engage with the airline and fellow travelers.
- Gradual implementation at airports: Commencing with Delhi and Mumbai airports, guests will witness the new branding at various touchpoints, including check-in counters, boarding gates, lounges, and newly designed boarding cards. The rollout will progressively extend to other airports across Air India’s expanding global network in the coming weeks.
Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director of Air India, remarked,
“The network-wide transition to our new global brand identity is a milestone for Air India. It goes beyond introducing a new logo and colors to customer touchpoints; it signifies a commitment to our guests for a revamped travel experience that is contemporary, seamless, and infused with the warmth and hospitality that characterizes a new India and a new Air India. We are confident that the modern, world-class appearance of Air India will resonate with our guests globally and serve as a vivid reminder of the remarkable changes in their Air India experience, both past and future.”
Airbus A350 Delivery Update
The fresh Air India livery will be showcased on the A350 fleet and subsequently on other incoming brand-new aircraft. The in-flight introduction of the new global brand identity is intricately tied to the imminent induction of the Airbus A350 fleet, followed by the refurbishment of cabin products in the coming months.
Campbell Wilson remarked, “This is a transformation of significant scale, and thus, it may take some time to achieve consistency in our product, service, and the overall ‘new Air India experience.’ We will continue to seek the support of our guests as we modernize Air India and elevate it to the status of a world-class airline that India truly deserves.”
Earlier this year, Air India made groundbreaking orders for 470 aircraft from Airbus and Boeing, valued at US$ 70 billion (at published list prices). The highly anticipated Airbus A350 aircraft is set to commence arrivals this month.
A substantial US$ 400 million project for refurbishing 43 of Air India’s legacy widebody aircraft will begin in mid-2024. This initiative will involve installing new seats in every cabin, introducing new inflight entertainment systems, and providing Wi-Fi internet connectivity.
Last week, Air India unveiled new uniforms for its cabin and cockpit crews, designed by the renowned Indian couturier Manish Malhotra.
The phased introduction of the new uniforms will commence over the next few months, coinciding with the entry of Air India’s first Airbus A350. Additionally, the airline plans to reveal new uniforms for ground staff, engineers, and security personnel, all designed by Manish Malhotra.
