NETHERLANDS- KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL) introduced an updated edition of its ‘Orange Pride’ livery. Online photos revealed subtle alterations to the captivating paint design showcased on a Boeing 777-300ER.
This marks the initial refresh to the aircraft’s distinctive half-blue and half-orange appearance since its debut seven years ago. The airline emphasized that the design highlights its connection to and pride in the national colors of the Netherlands.
KLMs New Orange Pride Livery
JetPhotos reported spotting the aircraft with registration PH-BVA looking newly painted outside the hangar at Malta International Airport last Saturday.
While the back and front sections of the plane seem unchanged, a subtle redesign was observed in the middle part of the fuselage.
The iconic KLM Blue has been divided by the vibrant colors of the Dutch flag—red and blue stripes with white in the middle—stretching from the top of the fuselage to the nose of the aircraft.
The belly, tail, and engines maintain their familiar look, painted in a soft gray adorned with the KLM emblems. In its previous iteration, the livery showcased an orange and blue gradient in the fuselage’s center.
330 Liters of Paint
The Dutch flag carrier unveiled this distinctive paint design in 2016, using over 330 liters of paint to coat the Boeing 777. The iconic blue color seamlessly fades from orange.
Achieving this effect involved applying the colors in thin layers multiple times. This approach allowed the airline to use paint more efficiently. A team of 35 individuals collaborated to repaint the plane over a span of four days.
