TURKEY- Turkish Airlines (TK), Turkey’s national flag carrier, is extending its global network with the unveiling of its 13th U.S. destination. The airline now offers direct flights from Istanbul Airport to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW).
The inaugural flight received a warm welcome at the airport, marked by traditional water salutations, as reported by Anadolu Agency (AA) based on a statement from the Turkish Airlines press office.

Welcoming Event
The welcome event at DTW Airport featured the presence of Turkish Airlines executives alongside local officials.
Ahmet Bolat, Chairperson of the Board and the Executive Committee at Turkish Airlines highlighted the significance of the Detroit destination in his speech at the event.
Expressing excitement about connecting Istanbul and Detroit, Bolat stated, ‘We are thrilled to bring Istanbul together with Detroit, offering travel, business, and cultural discovery opportunities. We have brought our two great cities, Istanbul and Detroit, closer together.’
Emphasizing the airline’s commitment to providing the highest quality service and expanding its unique flight network, he added, ‘As the national flag carrier of our beautiful country, Türkiye, we reach more countries than any other airline in the world.
By adding new destinations like Detroit to our ever-expanding network, we continue to serve our primary mission: to unite people and cultures around the globe.

Istanbul to Detroit Flights
Turkish Airlines Launches Istanbul to Detroit Flights, Operating Three Times a Week Initially and Expanding to Four Days a Week by December 25
Starting November 15, flights connecting Istanbul Airport to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport will run three times a week, specifically on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, utilizing the Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The frequency of these flights is scheduled to increase to four days a week by December 25.
This expansion marks a significant milestone for Turkish Airlines, expanding their total flight network to 345 destinations and increasing the number of destinations in the United States to 13.
The airline also offers services to various U.S. cities, including Atlanta, New York, Washington, D.C., Miami, and Boston.
