SEATTLE- Alaska Airlines (AS) is introducing its latest uniquely themed aircraft into its fleet, and this one carries a touch of magic from the beloved character, Mickey Mouse.
The plane, named “Mickey’s Toontown Express,” was officially unveiled at a gate ceremony in Seattle and is set to operate its inaugural flight to Orange County, California, where passengers can enjoy a visit to Disneyland Resort in Anaheim – “The Happiest Place on Earth.”
Alaska Airlines Mickey Mouse
This aircraft is the eighth livery collaboration between Alaska Airlines and Disneyland Resort. It features playful images of Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Pluto, Donald Duck, and Daisy Duck, all from Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland Park.
The unique design, which even incorporates Chip ‘n’ Dale on the boarding doors and winglets, required more than 400 hours of hand-painting over a period of 20 days to cover the aircraft exterior from nose to tail.
According to Sangita Woerner, Alaska’s Senior Vice President of Marketing and Guest Experience, these Disneyland Resort-themed planes bring joy to guests of all ages.
She also mentioned that the return of Mickey Mouse to an Alaska Airlines plane is a special moment, as the character had previously made his debut on their fleet eight years ago.
Strong Partnership
Alaska Airlines’ strong partnership with Disneyland Resort has allowed them to provide unforgettable experiences for passengers and employees, reflecting the airline’s family-friendly approach and commitment to offering special touches.
Recognizing the happiness that Disneyland Resort-themed planes can bring to families, Alaska Airlines and Disney collaborated to send multiple families and special guests on the inaugural flight.
These passengers had the opportunity to experience Alaska’s usual high level of care, including priority boarding for families with children under two, complimentary family seating, amenities such as coloring books, the popular Kids’ Choice Picnic Pack, and Jetsetter’s Jam Sandwich for guests traveling in both the Premium and Main Cabins.
The “Mickey’s Toontown Express” aircraft offers passengers onboard activity books and snack packs adorned with designs featuring Mickey Mouse and his friends, subject to availability.
Sybil Crum, Vice President of Marketing and Commercial Strategy at Disneyland Resort, highlighted their long-standing relationship with Alaska Airlines, which has lasted for over 25 years and embodies the magic of Disney.
The plane’s artwork represents the eighth collaboration between Alaska Airlines and Disney, showcasing the excitement and playfulness of the reimagined Mickey’s Toontown. This partnership aims to create even more memorable experiences for their guests.
Disneyland Resort-themed planes
The plane’s exterior design takes inspiration from Mickey’s Toontown in Disneyland Park, an imaginative and newly reimagined animated neighborhood offering interactive experiences, beloved attractions, and new adventures, including the attraction Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, where families can explore, play, discover, and relax together.
Travelers will have the opportunity to experience Alaska Airlines’ “Mickey’s Toontown Express” livery for the next several years until it completes its regular rotation.
In addition to this exciting theme, Alaska Airlines has introduced other Disneyland Resort-themed liveries, including “Friendship and Beyond at the Disneyland Resort.”
This design showcases larger-than-life versions of beloved characters from Disney and Pixar’s “Toy Story,” such as Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie, set against the backdrop of Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure Park.
Furthermore, the airline offers the “Star Wars Transport to the Disneyland Resort” livery, featuring a striking space-black design that celebrates Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, a 14-acre immersive experience located at Disneyland Park. The iconic Millennium Falcon and TIE fighters grace the tail of the Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
Travelers can easily book their next journeys to Southern California or any of the airline’s more than 120 destinations through the official website.
Once they arrive in the region, it’s always the perfect time to explore Disneyland Resort and enjoy all the incredible experiences it has to offer.
