UNITED STATES- Tata-owned Indian FSC, Air India (AI), has introduced its newly acquired Boeing 777 aircraft to all three of its non-stop routes from Mumbai to the United States: New York (JFK) Airport, Newark Liberty Airport (EWR), and San Francisco (SFO).
This development marks the first time that all North American cities served by Air India from Mumbai have been upgraded to feature aircraft with state-of-the-art seating and in-flight entertainment systems across all travel classes.

Air India Deploys Newly Inducted 777 to US Destinations
Furthermore, one of the two daily Air India flights between Mumbai and London Heathrow (AI130/AI131) will now operate using the new 777 aircraft, featuring modern interiors and introducing first-class cabins.
The Boeing 777-200LR aircraft serving San Francisco and New York-JFK offers 28 Business Class, 48 Premium Economy, and 212 Economy Class seats, while the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft serving Newark-Liberty and London provides 8 First Class, 40 Business Class, and 280 Economy Class seats.
Campbell Wilson, Managing Director and CEO of Air India, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to introduce an enhanced travel experience on all routes from Mumbai to the United States and to upgrade one of our London services.”
“This is a crucial component of Air India’s ongoing product transformation initiative. We have introduced 7 new 777s in the past year, with 4 more to follow, and are set to receive 6 new Airbus A350s in the coming months.”
“These aircraft all boast significantly improved interiors, setting the stage for a comprehensive interior upgrade of our entire widebody fleet, set to commence in mid-2024.”
A few days back, Air India introduced special airfare for US routes in both Economy Class and Premium Economy Class. Economy Class fares, which include all fees, start at INR 42,999 for one-way travel and INR 52,999 for return trips.

More US Flights
Air India has announced an expansion of its services on three routes departing from Delhi (DEL):
- The Delhi to Washington D.C. (IAD) route will see the addition of a fourth weekly flight, effective from November 21.
- A fourth weekly flight will be introduced on the Delhi to Newark (EWR) route starting November 27.
- The Delhi to San Francisco (SFO) route will experience an increase in frequency with the introduction of an eleventh weekly flight commencing from November 24.
The Indian carrier operates 47 non-stop flights each week from Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai to five American cities: New York, Newark (New Jersey), Washington DC, Chicago, and San Francisco.
Further, Air India (AI) is planning to start a new flight to Dallas (DFW) and other US cities with the arrival of the first Airbus A350 batch in the coming months.
