DELHI- Vistara (UK), a full-service airline, has canceled one of its scheduled flights from Kolkata (CCU) to Delhi (DEL) on Sunday to accommodate additional flights for passengers stranded in Kolkata and Port Blair.
An airline spokesperson stated late on Saturday, “Vistara Flight UK747 operating from Kolkata to Port Blair and the return flight UK787 on 30 September 2023 were canceled due to bad weather in Port Blair. We are operating one additional flight on the two sectors on 01 October 2023 for the stranded customers in the two cities.”
Vistara Canceled Delhi Flight
“In order to accommodate these additional flights, we had to make the difficult decision to cancel one of our flights scheduled to fly from Delhi to Kolkata and then back to Delhi,” the spokesperson explained.
This statement was made in response to Trinamool Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Derek O’Brien, who mentioned the flight cancellation in connection with the party’s planned protests on Monday and Tuesday in the national capital.
O’Brien expressed his discontent on Saturday, stating, “First, they abruptly cancel special train services from Kolkata to Delhi to prevent those who were to travel to participate in protests on Oct 2 & 3, demanding tens of thousands of crores owed to Bengal by the BJP Union government. Now, a flight gets canceled! Try as you might, we WILL TAKE YOU ON.”
He also shared a screenshot of the details of the canceled Vistara flight, which was scheduled to depart from Kolkata at 6.45 pm to Delhi on Sunday.
The Vistara spokesperson added that the airline is in contact with all affected customers to provide them with alternative options, including seats on the next available flights, basic amenities, or refunds. The airline deeply regrets any inconvenience caused to its customers.
