SEATTLE – Alaska Airlines (AS) is revolutionizing the airport journey by offering a seamless solution for passport verification. The innovative digital solution enables passengers to confirm their identities remotely before international flights.
Passengers traveling internationally on Alaska flights with U.S. or Canadian passports can opt for the Mobile Verify program. With the new app, travelers can eliminate the need to present their passports to airline agents physically, enhancing the efficiency of their journey through the airport.
How the App Verification Works
Alaska Airlines travelers can save time and avoid check-in queues with just a few simple steps.
To facilitate digital identity creation, passengers must follow these steps, a one-time requirement for the duration of their passport’s validity. This includes the following;
- Downloading the Airside Digital Identity mobile app.
- Capture a selfie to validate their face
- Scan the passport’s photo page.
- Placing the phone against the interior of the passport’s back cover to access the embedded chip.
This enables the app to verify their information and securely store their digital ID. The information remains on their mobile device until they choose to share it.
With the digital identity established, a few preliminary measures are needed before embarking on each trip. This includes selecting the departure date and location and entering the confirmation code.
The app provides the airline with one-time consent to use the digital identity, alerting Alaska that the documents are verified for international travel and eliminating the need to see an agent. Travelers only need to repeat this process for each international trip.
Passengers who do not want to use Mobile Verify can still access and speak with the airline’s customer service agents.
