DELHI- The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has independently recognized and initiated action by issuing a notice based on a video circulating on Instagram that highlights alleged incidents of sexual harassment involving a passenger on a SpiceJet (SG) flight.

As a result, the Commission has formally notified both the Delhi Police and the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to address the matter, reports Mint.

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has independently recognized and initiated action by issuing a notice based on a video circulating on Instagram that highlights alleged incidents of sexual harassment involving a passenger on a SpiceJet (SG) flight.

          DCW Notice over SpiceJet Incident

“Recognizing the gravity of this situation, the DCW chairperson, Swati Maliwal, tweeted on Friday that they are sending notices to both the police and DGCA to address the issue.

“On a flight journey from Delhi to Mumbai, a passenger covertly recorded videos and inappropriate photos of a flight attendant and other female passengers. A video depicting this incident has gained traction on Instagram.”

          DCW chairperson, Swati Maliwal Tweet

The DCW’s notice includes a request from Maliwal for a copy of the FIR connected to the incident, along with information regarding any suspects detained by August 23.

“If the accused hasn’t been apprehended, kindly provide an explanation for this. Additionally, furnish a comprehensive report detailing the actions taken in this case and the requested information to the Commission. Given the serious nature of the situation,” Maliwal’s correspondence stated.

          What Actually Happened?

In a shameful and shocking act, the SpiceJet (SG) passenger took underpants and leg pics and videos of the cabin crew on the Delhi (DEL) to Mumbai (BOM) flight.

Maanvi, an influencer on Instagram, utilized her account @milliondollabod to share a concerning video. In this video, she recounted the entire incident and unveiled the individual responsible.

According to Maanvi, he employed his camera to record her actions during the interaction between the male passenger and the flight attendant. She notified the SpiceJet crew, leading the team to examine the passenger’s phone.

The phone contained images of the flight attendant’s undergarments and legs, along with videos featuring Maanvi, who was seated beside him.

In one of the videos, the flight attendant was observed urging the blogger to record the individual responsible and unveil his actions on social media.

He appeared unperturbed despite the crew’s indications towards the passenger and their request for him to remain for airline security.

          Similar Incident

A few months ago, a SpiceJet flight from Delhi (DEL) to Hyderabad (HYD) faced a similar incident in which two passengers disembarked from the aircraft at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

This action was taken after one of the passengers was alleged to have engaged in inappropriate physical contact with a cabin crew member. Subsequently, displayed disruptive behavior before the flight’s departure.

Further, the airport security personnel took custody of both individuals involved in the incident. The Delhi Police then initiated a case in relation to the event.
