DELHI- On August 11, 2023, an Air India (AI) flight from T3 Delhi Airport (DEL) to T2 Mumbai Airport (BOM) was delayed by more than seven hours.
Further, the airline told passengers that they would reschedule it ASAP, but many passengers were frustrated, and some even showed anger towards management.
Air India Flight Delayed by 7 Hours
On an Air India flight, an AI814 passenger contacted us and told us about his experience. He also shared screenshots of the flight updates that AI sent them, but we will only share the details to protect his privacy.
He said, “The flight was scheduled for 10:30 PM IST. I received a message at 8:10 PM that the flight is postponed to 11:30 PM IST. Then we again got the message that it was postponed to 3 AM. When we asked why, they told us it was because of a technical issue.”
“But at around 2 AM, we went to the Gate to board our flights, but there were no staff. After some time, the cabin crew came near the gate and said nothing about the flight.”
“Some passengers then angrily asked them why we were not getting proper instructions and support. They then told us that the flight is again postponed till 5 AM in the morning.”
“However, we were provided lounge access and could get rest for one hour.”
At around 5:22 AM, Air India flight AI814, with changed flight number AI1814, finally took off from DEL. After being airborne for two hours, it landed safely at BOM.
“The IndiGo is much better than Air India, and I might not travel again with them. Also, due to this, one passenger missed a flight from Mumbai to London, while another one had to run at BOM Airport to catch up on its flight.”
Bottom Line
This is not the first time Air India has delayed or canceled its Delhi-Mumbai Flight. On August 10, it delayed the same flight by around one hour and 30 mins.
There is a rise in such cases with Air India group-owned airlines. Air India Express (IX) flights are regularly delayed or canceled for technical and non-technical reasons.
The airline has recently rebranded the logo, livery, color pallet, interiors, and more. To know more about it, click here.
