MUMBAI- Travelers aboard Air Mauritius (MK) flight MK 749 from Mumbai (BOM) to Port Louis, Mauritius (MRU) face a distressing situation.
According to a passenger, the flight, initially set to take off at 4:30 am, has been held on the ground for more than 5 hours due to an engine issue.
Air Mauritius Flight Delayed
Passengers narrate being ushered onto the plane around 3:45 am and subsequently confined inside, enduring severe discomfort exacerbated by non-functional air conditioning.
In the meantime, a 78-year-old traveler, identified as Banudutt Boolauky, is reportedly grappling with breathing difficulties. Efforts to reach out to airport authorities and Air Mauritius have been unsuccessful.
“Flight MK 749 Air Mauritius from Mumbai to Mauritius was scheduled to depart at 4:30 am. Passengers boarded from 3:45 am onwards. The aircraft has encountered an engine issue, but passengers have remained confined inside the plane for the past 5 hours and are not permitted to disembark. A 78-year-old passenger on the plane, Banudutt Boolauky, has experienced breathing problems as the air conditioning is not functioning, and he is lying at the back of the plane. We have contacted the airport helpline and Air Mauritius, but nothing has been done so far,” a passenger stated.
Another passenger said the flight had been canceled and necessary alternative arrangements were in progress. A statement from the airline regarding the incident is awaited.
The flag carrier of Mauritius deploys Airbus A330-200 aircraft to serve the Port Louis-Mumbai route. Likewise, for today’s flight, the airline deployed A330 registered as 3B-NCM.
