DUBAI, UAE- flydubai (FZ), the Dubai-headquartered airline, revealed its recent partnership with Smartwings (QS), an airline based in the Czech Republic.
According to the agreement, flydubai will wet lease four Next-Generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft from Smartwings for the period spanning from October 17, 2023, to April 16, 2024.

The Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance (ACMI) agreement with Smartwings will see four-leased aircraft support Flydubai’s 79 Boeing 737 aircraft fleet.
Further enabling the carrier to add more capacity for its passengers. Subsequently, cater to the demand for travel during busy travel periods.
At present, flydubai exclusively operates a unified fleet consisting of Boeing 737 aircraft. This fleet comprises 30 Next-Generation Boeing 737-800, 46 Boeing 737 MAX 8, and three Boeing 737 MAX 9 airplanes.
The aircraft, which features an all-Economy Class configuration, will serve specific routes within the flydubai network, such as Chattogram, Colombo, Dhaka, Karachi, and Muscat.
Travelers with flydubai reservations on Smartwings-operated flights will receive advance notifications about their upcoming travel dates.

Sharing his thoughts on the arrangement, Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, expressed his satisfaction with the newly established wet lease agreement with Smartwings.
This marks the third collaboration between the two carriers since 2019. Al Ghaith pointed out that Smartwings holds an IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) certification and has extensive experience in ACMI agreements. He further emphasized that the incorporation of four additional leased aircraft into their fleet will help ensure operational efficiency, boost capacity across their network, and mitigate potential disruptions for passengers, especially during one of the most bustling travel periods of the year.
