DELHI- Tata-owned Air India (AI) has unveiled a new feature called “Upgrade+ (Upgrade Plus),” aimed at simplifying cabin upgrades for its passengers.
With this latest offering, Air India guests can easily opt for upgrades to premium cabins within 72 to 12 hours before their scheduled flight time.
The Indian FSC has made the upgrade process hassle-free, as guests can conveniently purchase cabin upgrades at the airline’s airport counters during check-in.

Passengers who avail themselves of the Upgrade+ feature will enjoy an array of premium benefits, including a selection of gourmet food and beverages, increased baggage allowance, as well as priority check-in, boarding, and baggage handling.
It is important to note that fare conditions, cancellation, rebooking fees, and the accrual of Flying Returns points will continue to be based on the original booking of the passenger. It will not be included in the Upgrade+.
The Tata-backed carrier wrote on its website, “You are only a step away from enjoying Air India’s upgrade experience. Once you have successfully upgraded, you can enjoy more legroom, plush seating, personal entertainment screens, gourmet meals, a range of beverages, and other privileges. Just sit back, relax, and indulge.”

While the airline aims to offer this new upgrade facility to passengers on selected flights, it has also received significant news this week.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a letter of type acceptance to Air India for the Airbus A350s, indicating that the aircraft meets the specified airworthiness requirements.
According to Wilson, the first A350 from Airbus is scheduled to be delivered within the next few months. Further, Air India currently operates a fleet of 125 planes comprising 51 wide-body planes and 74 narrow-body planes.
With the launch of “Upgrade+,” Air India aims to enhance the travel experience for its valued passengers, providing more choices and convenience for upgrading to premium cabins on eligible flights.
