ISTANBUL- India’s largest carrier, IndiGo (6E) Airlines wet lease Boeing 777, has been spotted in 6E livery. Further, the aircraft is currently in Istanbul, Turkey, and will be delivered to 6E shortly.
This upcoming aircraft will be the fourth widebody aircraft to join the IndiGo. Subsequently, IndiGo has taken three Boeing 777 on lease from the flag carrier of Turkey, Turkish Airlines (TK).
First Look of New IndiGo Boeing 777
IndiGo (6E) Airlines’ first Boeing 777 painted in 6E livery landed at Delhi Airport on 28 May 2023. The aircraft will help strengthen the codeshare partnership between IndiGo and Turkish Airlines.
According to the source, the fourth Boeing 777 is the Ex-Azur Air (ZF), and it was registered as the VQ-BZC. The aircraft is configured with 531 seats.
Furthermore, the aircraft will have the configuration same as Azur Air (ZF). It will have 7 Business and 524 Economy seats. Currently, the aircraft belongs to Turkish Airlines, and it is providing that to 6E on a wet lease.
According to planespotters.net, the aircraft is now registered as TC-LKE and has been in storage at Ataturk since Nov 1 last year. Further, the airframe is 16.3 years old, and the plane was first delivered on March 2007 to Emirates and had the registration number A6-EBX.
After being operated with Emirates for more than 13 years, the plane was redelivered to Azur Air (ZF) in May 2019. Further, the TK took delivery of the plane in Nov 2022, and it has been in storage since Nov 2022.
The aircraft is transferred to IndiGo and has been showing the Call Sign 6E. However, the date for delivery is yet to be revealed, but we will keep you posted once we know it.
United States Flights
In an effort to enhance its global network, India’s largest airline IndiGo (6E), has introduced new flight connections through Istanbul to the United States of America (USA).
Through its codeshare agreement with Turkish Airlines, passengers now have access to convenient routes connecting to destinations such as New York, Boston, Chicago, and Washington.
This initiative aims to provide seamless travel options and expanded connectivity for travelers flying with IndiGo.
Starting from June 15, 2023, the expansion has been implemented to provide enhanced travel options for passengers.
In a press release, Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, stated, “Our goal is to offer affordable fares and seamless travel experiences. Further allowing Indian travelers to explore and connect with these remarkable destinations. We are excited to create more opportunities for our customers.”

This wide-body aircraft, sourced from our codeshare partner Turkish Airlines, is being operated by their pilots,” added Mr. Malhotra.
