BENGALURU- Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR Airport) unveiled its newly inaugurated Terminal 2 (T2) in November 2022.
The cutting-edge terminal embraces Bengaluru’s “garden city” identity with a unique garden aesthetic.
As India’s third-largest airport in terms of passenger traffic and aircraft movements, BLR Airport is set to expand further with its state-of-the-art infrastructure. Further incorporating the latest advancements in passenger handling technologies.
Materna Empowers BLR Airport New Terminal 2
To enhance the travel experience, BLR Airport collaborated with German provider Materna IPS to install 34 Self Bag Drop systems in the new terminal.
Materna IPS is chosen by Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL), the airport’s operator, based on their successful partnership in 2019 when Materna IPS implemented self-service solutions in Terminal 1.
In February of this year, the Flex Go system is launched. Air Asia India (I5) and Air Vistara (UK) became the first airlines to offer this advanced technology to their passengers.
The Self Bag Drop (SBD) units are equipped with artificial intelligence-based dimensional and conveyability detection, ensuring a seamless and secure baggage drop process.
Additional features, such as biometrics, can be integrated at a later stage as per the airport’s requirements, and work is underway to incorporate an excess baggage payment solution.
