PARIS- India’s largest carrier, IndiGo (6E) CEO Pieter Elbers, expressed his enthusiasm for this milestone during a media briefing in Paris following the signing of the order with Airbus.
In a significant development for the Indian aviation industry, low-cost carrier IndiGo has placed an order for 500 Airbus aircraft, marking a historic moment in the country’s aviation history.

Elbers stated, “We are thrilled with the announcement we have just made for IndiGo. This order is the largest for our airline and the largest order ever placed for a single aircraft type with Airbus. It signifies a monumental moment for Indian aviation.”
He further emphasized that this order reflects the remarkable growth of India, highlighting the country’s promising future and the role IndiGo will play in it.
With the addition of these 500 aircraft, IndiGo’s fleet will soon approach nearly 1,000 aircraft. Elbers elaborated, “There are currently 482 aircraft in the pipeline, scheduled for delivery between today and the end of the decade.”
Airbus IndiGo Completes 500 A320neo Deal
IndiGo has made a significant move by placing an extensive order for 500 A320 Family aircraft. Further marking the largest single purchase agreement ever witnessed in the commercial aviation industry.
With this latest deal, the total number of Airbus aircraft ordered by IndiGo now reaches an impressive 1,330. Subsequently solidifying its position as the world’s largest customer for the A320 Family.
This momentous purchase agreement is signed by prominent individuals at the Paris Air Show 2023. Subsequently including Rahul Bhatia, Promoter & Managing Director of IndiGo.
