At Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL), a guy from Pilbhit, Uttar Pradesh, was detained after allegedly making a “bomb threat” on a Vistara (UK) flight headed to Dubai.
Azeem Khan, a male passenger, was reportedly detained when a female companion said she overheard him discussing a “bomb” over the phone.
Vistara Bomb Threat Incident
The man on the Vistara flight brought his concerns to the flight crew’s attention. Who subsequently alerted Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport authorities.
At the airport, Khan was de-boarded and turned over to the CISF before being turned over to the Delhi Police. The event allegedly occurred on June 7 (Wednesday), according to the Delhi Police. But no evidence was discovered, according to a report.
A 20-year-old guy from Uttar Pradesh was previously detained by the Delhi Police in connection with a related incident in April of this year after receiving a false bomb threat call.
According to a senior police officer, the IGI Airport Police Station received a PCR call reporting that a bomb had been installed at the airport and disconnected the call.
According to the official, an immediate inspection was carried out after the bomb threat call. But nothing untoward was discovered.
“The police called the number from which the call was made. But it was switched off,” the official added.

They added that an additional investigation is ongoing and that the caller, Zakir, a 20-year-old Hapur resident, is later identified as the caller. Zakir finally arrested and booked by the applicable legal provisions.
In a separate incident, a traveler called the Hyderabad airport with a bogus bomb threat in February of this year. Allegedly demanding that it halt operations so that he wouldn’t miss his trip.
At the time, sources stated that a traveler running behind schedule for his journey to Chennai had called the Hyderabad airport and made a false bomb threat to buy himself more time.
After receiving the threat call, according to Hyderabad airport officials, airport security immediately checked the plane and evacuated all the passengers. Despite a thorough inspection, nothing was discovered on the aircraft. The caller was later recognized and detained by police, according to them.
