MUMBAI- India’s largest regional carrier, Star Air (S5) today, on 13th May, operated the first revenue and commercial flight of its New Embraer E175, the first of its kind for the Indian Market.
The airline took delivery of E175s on 16th Feb 2023. Further, Star Air’s acquisition of a new aircraft is aimed at enhancing regional connectivity. Subsequently, increasing accessibility to areas that are currently underserved is part of the airline’s continuous efforts toward improvement.
Star Air First Embraer E175 Commercial Flight
The airline operated the inaugural flight S5151 between Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Further, the Embraer E175 has the registration VT-GSI and GE CF34-8E engines that power the aircraft.
Furthermore, the E175 aircraft features a dual-class cabin layout that does not have middle seats, offering exceptional legroom to travelers and making it the top choice. It has around 76 seats and has the capacity to carry 88 in single class configuration.
According to FlightRadar24, the flight took off from Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR) at 8:04 AM IST, One hour late than the scheduled time. After being airborne for almost one hour, it landed at Hyderabad. The plane touches down at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) at 9:02 AM IST in the morning.
The airline celebrated the inaugural flight with a lamp-lighting ceremony by its CEO, Simran Singh Tiwana. Further, other senior officials were seen at the airport.
The aviation geeks and media personnel were also present to experience the first-of-its-kind flight. Star Air shared the photos on its official Twitter account.
As we write this article, the E175 is airborne again. This time it’s flying from Hyderabad (HYD) to Jamnagar (JGA) and is expected to land at 11:50 AM IST.
The airline recently conducted the proving flight of E175s with DGCA Officials. They conducted a flight from Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) in Bengaluru to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD) in Hyderabad.

The airline wrote that Star Air has completed the proving flight of its Embraer E175LR aircraft, with officials from DGCA and Star Air posing for a group photo at the end of the flight’s leg from BLR Airport to RGIA Hyderabad.”
While the RGIA Hyderabad expressed excitement and wrote, “A new addition to the fleet of @OfficialStarAir has arrived at #HYDAirport. The #E175 model aircraft is set to elevate the airline to new heights. Further, the airport is fully equipped to handle it with its efficient airside and on-ground operations. Vishal Jolapara captured a beautiful shot of the aircraft, and the airport is thrilled to welcome the new star to their constellation.”
The airline operated the proving flight for its Embraer E175, which has the registration VT-GSI. Furthermore, the airline currently operates a fleet of four Embraer ERJ-145s and two Embraer E175, which it took delivery of and will soon fly for them. Likewise, two E175LRs are in order.
