The Chicago-based United Airlines (UA) flight from Indianapolis Airport (IND) to Denver Airport (DEN) makes an emergency landing at Omaha Airport (OMA) amid a medical emergency onboard the UA flight UA1422.
The aircraft operated by the US carrier was the Boeing 737 MAX 9. Further, it has the registration N37553. The plane diverted to Omaha, Nebraska and makes a safe landing.
United Indianapolis to Denver Flight Emergency Landing at Omaha
The incident occurred this week on Tuesday (May 2, 2023). According to FlightRadar24, the United Airlines flight took from Indianapolis at 10:44 PM UTC, and one hour later, the old man had some sort of medical condition.
Following this, the pilot decided to divert to OMA, and it made an emergency landing at around 12: 20 AM UTC.
According to Planespotters, the fleet and photos website, the United Airlines N37553 is only a two-month-old Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft. Likewise, the airline took delivery of the plane on 15 March of this year. Furthermore, The MSN of the aircraft is 67180.
The source who was onboard the UA1422 revealed the news on social media. He wrote that ” Tuesday proved to be an exhausting day for me. Initially, my flight got delayed by three hours. Then, just one hour after takeoff, an elderly man had a medical emergency.”
Traumatic Experience
“I witnessed him remain unresponsive for nearly 45 minutes from my seat just two rows ahead. Although I cannot say for certain, it appeared to be a stroke or heart attack. Witnessing the situation unfold on the flight proved to be one of the most distressing experiences I have ever had.”
He further added, “Fortunately, there were individuals on the flight who could provide immediate medical assistance, including a nurse practitioner, a retired fireman/paramedic, and an army EMT. Their quick response was crucial in saving the man’s life.”
“We had to make an emergency landing in Omaha, Nebraska, and the man was taken away in an ambulance. I hope he is okay, but it’s difficult not knowing.”
“Cannot imagine how frightening it would be to wake up in an unfamiliar hospital in a strange city. I keep thinking about it, and although I’m sure the memory will eventually fade, it was an incredibly traumatic and upsetting experience.”
The flight then took off again and landed safely at Denver International Airport. Such incidents are really traumatizing for passengers, and I can understand because I report such incidents, and I can feel the pain.
