On Saturday, low-cost airline IndiGo announced that it would add more flights between Kolkata and Imphal, the capital of Manipur. This occurs as ethnic conflict grips Manipur.
Additionally, the airline has waived the fees for flight changes and cancellations from May 4 to May 7. In light of the current circumstances in Manipur, IndiGo announced that it would run two special supplemental flights from Imphal to Kolkata on May 6, 2023, increasing capacity for passengers departing the state.

In contrast, Manipur, a country plagued by violence, had a rise in the death toll to 54. Officials told PTI that out of the 54 people whose deaths had been formally certified, 16 bodies had been stored in the mortuary of the Churachandpur district hospital, and 15 bodies had been housed at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences in the Imphal East district.
The presence of the security forces, which had been strengthened by the deployment of more army troops, fast response teams, and central police forces, was clearly discernible at all key locations and on major thoroughfares.

The bulk of stores and markets in Imphal and the surrounding districts opened in the morning, with people purchasing vegetables and other needs, despite the presence of a sizable security presence.
The state government-mandated suspending broadband and data services from Reliance Jio Fibre, Airtel Xtreme, and BSNL following fatal conflicts.
After fighting broke out between the two factions at a rally put on by the All Tribals Students Union Manipur (ATSUM) in opposition to the demand for the inclusion of Meitei/Meetei in the ST category, the government had already shut down the internet for five days.
