A British holiday airline Jet2.com, has received its first Airbus A321neo airliner as it begins to expand and renew its fleet.
The Airbus A321neo, registered G-SUNB, arrived at Manchester Airport (MAN/EGCC) this morning ahead of its first flight with the Leeds Bradford-based airline.
The delivery is part of the airline’s order for 98 Airbus aircraft placed last year, which includes 36 A321neo and 35 A320neo aircraft.
The British leisure-focused low-cost carrier ordered thirty-six A321-200Ns with options for a further 24 in August 2021. It has been gradually increasing the commitment since then, both through new orders and the conversion of options. It currently has 15 options remaining, which would potentially increase the A321neo fleet to 75.
Jet2 will use Airbus aircraft for its holiday and charter services as part of Jet2 and Jet2 Holidays.
“We are delighted to build on our existing relationship with Airbus and to have placed this additional aircraft order, which provides the company with the certainty of supply well into the next decade.”
Said Philip Meeson, executive chairman of Channel Express Group, which owns the airline, at the time of ordering the type
“The order reflects our confidence that we have a well-loved product built on sector-leading customer service that we can continue to grow, and these aircraft will ensure our customers have a wonderfully comfortable and enjoyable experience as they travel with us for their well-deserved Jet2holidays or scheduled holiday flights with Jet2.com.”
