Goa CM Pramod Sawant has clarified that the operations at Dabolim Airport will continue even after the greenfield international airport at Mopa is commissioned
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said
The airport at Dabolim will not be shut once the greenfield international airport at Mopa is commissioned, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stated on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters at the stone laying ceremony of a cruise terminal building in Mormugao Port Trust in the presence of Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said, “Dabolim Airport will not be shut.
Dabolim Airport
The operations at Dabolim Airport will not be stopped.” “No one should increase doubts about Dabolim Airport. Both airports will be functional. The state will hold a meeting next week to chalk out plans for both airports. If international flights are diverted to Mopa airport, then domestic flights can land at Dabolim,” Sawant stated.
Earlier Goa Forward Party leaders had claimed the Dabolim airport facility would be shut, their statements based on a reported remark by state transport minister Mauvin Godinho that the airport may face closure if taxi operators there do not adopt the latest technology.

Goa transport minister Mauvin Godinho stated his information about Dabolim Airport was misinterpreted, which had provided rise to speculation that the facility would be closed down when the greenfield airport at Mopa is commissioned.
“My report was misinterpreted. Some elements are trying to spread rumors about the closure of Dabolim airport after the commissioning of Mopa airport.
I had stated if taxi operators at Dabolim airport don’t shift to app-based service, then passengers will stop coming to Dabolim airport,” he informed reporters.
“My report was to convince taxi operators to adopt the technology. When Mopa is going to give multiple modes of transport on app-based service, passengers would prefer that airport. If the same options are provided at Dabolim airport, passengers will have 2 choices,” he said.
