Talking about connecting Pune internationally, Sudhir Mehta, the President of Maratha Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA), tweeted, “Had a call with the CEO of @airvistara along with @Girbane. Discussed the opportunity for international air connectivity for Pune.
Vistara is keen to begin a Pune Singapore flight subject to allotment of traffic rights. @MCCIA_Pune will bid authorities in Delhi to expedite.”

“We have also asked for a late evening flight from Pune to Mumbai and Delhi to facilitate international air connectivity from those airports,” he stated.
He said, “We also requested direct Dubai & Bangkok flights. While there is huge traffic potential, these are not likely unless the civil aviation ministry & foreign affairs allot landing rights for these destinations as part of reciprocal agreements.”

One user wrote, “A good initiative. Pune city is not subordinate to Mumbai or any other Metro city. This initiative will facilitate traffic to Mumbai thus decongesting it and direct flights will bring about direct investment from overseas, and resultant employment.”
Another user tweeted, “A direct connection between Pune and Singapore will surely solve connectivity for travelers, but will also bring many employment and enhanced financial benefits as businesses in Singapore plan their ’Global Capacity Centers’ in India.”
