Flights will begin landing at Mopa International Airport on September 1, 2022, according to Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
However, the exact date of the inauguration has yet to be determined.
According to Sawant, 98 percent of the airport’s work has been done.
The anticipated date for the first phase of Mopa Airport’s commissioning is August 15, 2022.
The only existing airport in Goa is in Dabolim, which is part of the Indian Navy’s INS Hansa defence base.
The greenfield project’s concession duration will be 40 years, with a possible extension of another 20 years through a competitive bidding process.
The BOT (Build Operate Transfer) model will be used to construct the airport. The concession will have a mixed regulatory system with a 30% cross-subsidy.
Only up to 30% of non-aeronautical income, which include retail, food and beverage, and parking, would be used for cross-subsidization of aeronautical costs under the hybrid model.
Route and terminal navigation services are included in aeronautical expenses.
