According to an official document, Tata Group-owned Air India has instructed its employees to depart government-owned housing estates by July 26.
Last October 8, the Tata Group won the bid for Air India.
Non-core assets of the airline, such as housing colonies, stay with the government under the conditions of the disinvestment.
In Delhi and Mumbai, Air India operates two large housing estates.
"We have received an e-mail from AI Assets Holding Ltd (AIAHL) dated May 17, 2022, advising us to send a reminder to the residents to vacate the company accommodation by July 26 at the latest, in accordance with the decision of Air India Specific Alternative Mechanism (AISAM), which has already been conveyed to them."
The Centre established AIAHL in 2019 to handle debt by selling non-core assets of the Air India group following its disinvestment.
The disinvestment of Air India was handled by a panel of ministers chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah and includes Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, and Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
