ATLANTA- Delta Air Lines (DL) has updated its international schedule showing new flights between Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to Sao Paulo/Guarulhos–Governor André Franco Montoro International Airport (GRU) from January 6, 2025.
This update was first flagged by an aviation insider JonNYC and confirmed by an independent aviation blogger Ishrion Aviation.
Delta Boston to Sao Paulo
The carrier will operate three weekly flights using its Airbus A330-300 aircraft. Here’s the schedule for the BOS-GRU flight:
- The Boston departure, flight DL165, takes off at 9:00 AM and reaches São Paulo at 8:45 PM local time.
- The return service, DL164, departs São Paulo at 10:45 PM, landing in Boston at 6:40 AM the following day. The flights operate on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
The schedule mirrors LATAM Airlines’ existing BOS-GRU service timing. Industry analysis suggests Delta is taking over LATAM’s route operations, as LATAM has ceased ticket sales for this route during Delta’s operational period from January 6 to March 27, 2025.
Delta’s commitment to this route beyond March 2025 remains unclear, pending future schedule updates, says Ishrion A.
The Boston-São Paulo service complements Delta’s existing Brazilian network, which includes flights to São Paulo from its major hubs in Atlanta (ATL) and New York (JFK).
Atlanta-based carrier will also launch nonstop flights between Minneapolis-St Paul (MSP) and Copenhagen (CPH), Denmark in May 2025.
Furthermore, Delta will resume nonstop flights between Los Angeles (LAX) and Shanghai (PVG), China in June 2025. Subsequently, Delta will introduce new and resumed services to Auckland (AKL), Paris (CDG), and Brisbane (BNE)from Los Angeles starting December 4, 2024.
Codeshare with LATAM
Delta Air Lines and LATAM Airlines Group partnership has achieved a 68% growth in flight operations since establishing their Joint Venture in 2022.
The collaboration has generated 32,000 flights and provided 8 million seats connecting North America (United States and Canada) with South America (Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay).
Delta Air Lines launched three strategic routes under the partnership: Atlanta-Cartagena service, a seasonal New York JFK-Rio de Janeiro connection, and increased Atlanta-Bogotá service to twice daily frequencies.
LATAM Airlines expanded its network with Bogotá-Orlando, São Paulo-Los Angeles, and seasonal Santiago-Orlando routes while adding a second daily Lima-Atlanta flight.
The joint operation strengthened its market presence by incorporating Ecuador into its South American coverage for North American travel. The venture expanded its scope by integrating dedicated cargo flights into its operations, marking a significant development in its service portfolio.
The Delta-LATAM partnership extends comprehensive loyalty benefits across their networks. Travelers earn miles simultaneously in Delta SkyMiles and LATAM Pass programs. The alliance grants access to 53 Delta Sky Clubs throughout the United States and five LATAM lounges in Santiago, Buenos Aires, São Paulo, Bogotá, and Miami.
