High airfares

All across the U.S., bargain-hunters are turning to flight calendars with renewed hope. Airlines such as Delta Air Lines (DL) and American Airlines (AA) show deep fare drops weeks before holidays.

Skyrocketing airfares became evident on Sunday for same-day travel, reaching exorbitant levels that were as much as 10 times higher than the typical fares on specific routes.
