BENGALURU- Swiss International Air Lines (LX) has launched nonstop flights between Zurich Airport (ZRH) and Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru (BLR). The inaugural flight, LX140, departed Zurich at 1:34 p.m. local time, marking the start of a five-times-weekly service.
The new route makes Bengaluru SWISS’s third destination in India, alongside Delhi (DEL) and Mumbai (BOM). It provides travellers from southern India with direct access to the airline’s Zurich hub and onward connections across Europe and North America.

SWISS Expands Its India Network With Bengaluru Flights
The launch strengthens SWISS’s presence in India, particularly in a market known for technology companies, international businesses and growing travel demand. Bengaluru is one of Asia’s major technology and innovation hubs, attracting business travellers, corporate customers and visitors from across the world.
The new route also supports travel between Switzerland and southern India. Passengers can fly nonstop between Bengaluru and Zurich, with onward connections through Zurich to destinations across the SWISS network and the wider Lufthansa Group network.
SWISS CEO Jens Fehlinger said the new service would create opportunities for passengers, Swiss companies and Switzerland’s business community. He described Bengaluru as a major technology and innovation centre and said the airline was making a targeted investment in its long-haul network.
The airline expects the route to serve several passenger segments, including corporate travellers, technology-sector professionals, leisure passengers and members of the Indian diaspora living in Europe and elsewhere.
Bengaluru’s addition also expands SWISS’s Indian network beyond the established markets of Delhi and Mumbai. The route gives the airline another connection to a major Indian metropolitan area while strengthening links between Switzerland and one of India’s most important business centres.

Bengaluru Route Targets Business and Leisure Travellers
Bengaluru has established itself as a major centre for technology, innovation and international business. The presence of multinational technology companies and European businesses in the region makes the city an important destination for corporate travel.
The route also offers leisure travellers direct access to southern India. Bengaluru can serve as a starting point for journeys through Karnataka and other parts of the region, combining city visits with historical, cultural and nature-focused experiences.
The new service is part of SWISS’s wider effort to expand its long-haul network in strategically important markets. Its Zurich hub gives passengers from Bengaluru access to additional destinations through connections across the Lufthansa Group network.
The airline has also highlighted the role of premium travel on the route. Passengers can choose between First, Business and Economy Class, while connecting customers can continue through Zurich to destinations in Europe and North America.
SWISS Showcases Bengaluru Beyond Its Technology Hub Image
To mark the launch, SWISS Magazine has highlighted Bengaluru’s cultural diversity through a feature with Indian actress Nidhhi Agerwal, who grew up in the city. The feature explores Bengaluru’s food, markets, fashion, classical dance, religious sites and green spaces.
Agerwal’s tour includes Vidyarthi Bhavan, a well-known vegetarian restaurant in Basavanagudi that has served masala dosa since 1943. The dish combines a crisp crepe made from fermented rice and lentil batter with a spiced potato filling, usually accompanied by chutney and South Indian filter coffee.
The journey also visits Gandhi Bazaar and KR Flower Market, where vendors sell fresh produce, jasmine, roses and marigolds. These markets show a side of Bengaluru shaped by everyday commerce, religious traditions and local food culture.
The feature moves beyond traditional markets to Church Street and Brigade Road, known for shops, cafés, bookstores and busy pedestrian areas. It also explores contemporary Indian fashion through a visit to designer Tarun Tahiliani’s Bengaluru boutique.
The film brings together traditional Bharatanatyam dancers and modern urban settings to illustrate the city’s mix of heritage and contemporary life. Other locations include Lalbagh Botanical Garden, Circle Maramma Temple and the Isha Foundation’s Sadhguru Sannidhi near Chikkaballapura, home to the 112-foot Adiyogi statue.
Through Agerwal’s perspective, SWISS presents Bengaluru as more than a technology destination. The city combines modern business districts with established cultural traditions, historic neighbourhoods and green spaces.

Five Places to Explore During a 48-Hour Stay in Bengaluru
SWISS Magazine has also published a travel guide for visitors who have limited time in the city, including business travellers looking to explore Bengaluru between meetings. The guide recommends five destinations covering religious life, nature, history, local markets and dining.
1. ISKCON Temple
The ISKCON Temple offers visitors an introduction to Hindu worship and religious traditions. Dedicated primarily to Krishna and Radha, the complex was inaugurated in 1997 and combines traditional temple architecture with modern structures.
Visitors can observe the shrines, flower offerings, and devotional practices. Appropriate clothing is recommended, and visitors must remove their shoes before entering the temple.
2. Lalbagh Botanical Garden
Commissioned in 1760, Lalbagh Botanical Garden provides a green retreat from the city’s busy roads and commercial districts. It features more than 1,000 plant species, a lake, an aquarium and a prominent glasshouse.
Visitors can walk along the garden’s paths, explore its older trees or visit Lalbagh Rock for views across the city. The attraction offers a quieter alternative to Bengaluru’s crowded streets.
3. Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace
Completed in 1791, Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace showcases the region’s historical and architectural heritage. The two-storey structure features intricately carved wooden columns, arches and balconies characteristic of Indo-Islamic architecture.
A small museum provides additional context about Tipu Sultan and his father, Hyder Ali. The palace offers an accessible introduction to Karnataka’s history for travellers with limited time.
4. KR Market
KR Market, named after former Mysore ruler Krishna Rajendra, provides a close look at Bengaluru’s daily commercial life. Its flower stalls display jasmine, roses, marigolds and other varieties used for weddings, religious offerings and decoration.
The market also sells fruit, spices, household products and souvenirs. Visitors seeking the busiest flower-market atmosphere should arrive early, ideally before 7 a.m., while respecting vendors’ work areas and asking permission before taking portraits.
5. Loya at Taj West End
Loya at Taj West End offers a dining experience centred on North Indian cuisine. Its menu includes dishes such as Sepu Wadi, made with lentil dumplings, alongside meat-based options such as Attari Murg and Dum Nalli.
The restaurant combines detailed interiors with an outdoor dining area overlooking the hotel’s gardens. It provides an option for visitors looking to end a busy day with a longer meal.

SWISS Strengthens Direct Connectivity to India
The launch of the Zurich-Bengaluru service expands SWISS’s Indian network and gives southern India a new nonstop connection to Switzerland. The five-weekly schedule serves both business and leisure demand while connecting Bengaluru passengers to onward destinations through Zurich.
The airline’s accompanying travel features also highlight Bengaluru’s appeal beyond its technology sector, including its historic architecture, religious landmarks, local markets, gardens and food culture.
With Bengaluru now its third destination in India, SWISS is extending its reach in a major international travel market and strengthening connections between Switzerland and southern India.
