LONDON- British Airways (BA) has completed the installation of Starlink Wi-Fi across all 18 of its Airbus A350 aircraft. The airline finished the rollout in just over a month, with completion confirmed on October 21.
Passengers travelling on British Airways flights operated by an A350 can now expect Starlink connectivity. The service is free for British Airways Club members across multiple devices, including on services connecting London Heathrow Airport (LHR) with destinations such as Tokyo Haneda (HND), Hong Kong (HKG) and Cape Town (CPT).

All 18 British Airways A350s Now Have Starlink Wi-Fi
British Airways has completed Starlink installation across its entire fleet of 18 Airbus A350 widebody aircraft. The rapid rollout is a significant milestone in the airline’s wider effort to introduce high-speed satellite internet across more than 300 aircraft.
The installation program resumed after British Airways paused work for five months during the busy summer period. The airline did not have enough flexibility in its operating schedule to accommodate the downtime required to install the equipment. Despite this interruption, it completed the A350 installations in just over a month.
With every A350 now fitted, passengers on flights operated by this aircraft type have greater certainty about onboard connectivity. Previously, a fleet-wide rollout was still in progress, meaning installation status could vary depending on the individual aircraft.
This consistency matters on routes regularly served by the A350. Passengers can check their aircraft type when booking, although operational changes or technical issues can still affect the aircraft or the availability of its internet service.

How Starlink Improves the In-Flight Internet Experience
Starlink uses a constellation of low-Earth-orbit satellites to provide high-speed internet with low latency. This technology offers a substantial improvement over the legacy Wi-Fi system originally fitted to British Airways’ A350 aircraft.
Higher speeds and lower latency can make online activities more practical during long-haul flights. Passengers can use the connection for video streaming, online gaming, video calls where supported, work-related tasks and internet-based services.
The connection can also support AI tools such as ChatGPT, allowing passengers to work with online assistants and other demanding applications while travelling.
According to PYOK, Actual performance depends on network conditions, aircraft operations and service availability, so uninterrupted connectivity or zero buffering cannot be guaranteed.
British Airways Club members receive Starlink Wi-Fi at no additional charge and can connect multiple devices. This provides a more flexible option for passengers who use a laptop, smartphone or tablet during the same journey.
The combination of improved connectivity and included access makes Starlink a notable upgrade from the airline’s legacy internet service.

British Airways A350 Destination
British Airways deploys its A350 aircraft on several long-haul routes across North America, Asia, Africa and South America. With Starlink installed on all 18 aircraft, passengers travelling on A350-operated services can expect the aircraft to be equipped with the new system.
Destinations identified in the rollout report include:
- Denver (DEN)
- Philadelphia (PHL)
- Toronto (YYZ)
- Tokyo Haneda (HND)
- São Paulo (GRU)
- Phoenix (PHX)
- Nashville (BNA)
- Austin (AUS)
- Hong Kong (HKG)
- Cape Town (CPT)
- Las Vegas (LAS)
Aircraft assignments can change, so passengers should check their booking details for the scheduled aircraft type. The completion of the A350 rollout removes installation uncertainty within this aircraft group, but it does not guarantee that every flight will operate without connectivity interruptions.

Boeing 787 Starlink Installations Are Progressing More Slowly
British Airways began installing Starlink across its fleet in March, with the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner receiving the first installation. Some of these aircraft had been in service with the airline for as long as 13 years without any Wi-Fi system installed.
Installing connectivity on an aircraft that has never had an onboard internet system can require more work than upgrading aircraft already equipped with existing hardware. This has contributed to a slower rollout on the Boeing 787-8 fleet compared with the recent A350 program.
As of October 21, British Airways had installed Starlink on 10 Boeing 787-8 aircraft, with two still awaiting installation. This contrasts with the completed A350 rollout, which covered all 18 aircraft in just over a month.
Several Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners also remain without any in-flight internet service. The airline has not confirmed when Starlink installation will begin on this group.
The difference between the aircraft fleets highlights the uneven progress of British Airways’ wider connectivity program. Although the airline has completed the A350 installations, passengers on other aircraft types may still encounter different levels of onboard internet access.
The five-month summer pause created a scheduling challenge for British Airways’ Starlink program. Aircraft must be available for the installation work, and the airline needs to balance modification time against the demands of its operating schedule.
The pause also raised questions about the airline’s ability to complete the wider rollout on time. Progress on the Boeing 787-8 fleet remained relatively slow, while the Boeing 787-9 group still lacked a confirmed installation start date.
The rapid completion of the A350 installations provides a positive milestone. However, it does not by itself confirm that the airline will meet its overall fleet-wide deadline. The remaining installations cover multiple aircraft types and must be completed within the constraints of airline operations.

British Airways Targets Fleet-Wide Starlink by March 2028
British Airways plans to install Starlink across its entire fleet of more than 300 aircraft by March 2028. The target includes aircraft beyond the A350 group, so substantial work remains even after the completion of the 18 A350 installations.
The airline’s progress on the Boeing 787-8 and Boeing 787-9 fleets will be important to the overall schedule. The five-month pause and the slower pace of some installations have made the deadline a point of interest.
Completing the A350 rollout demonstrates that British Airways can finish installations across an entire aircraft type within a short period. The remaining challenge is to maintain sufficient progress across its broader fleet while managing aircraft availability and operational requirements.
