MONTREAL- Air Canada (AC) will launch seasonal non-stop flights between Montréal (YUL), Canada, and Seville (SVQ), Spain, on September 8, 2027. The new service will provide a direct connection between North America and Andalusia, a region known for its historic landmarks, flamenco, festivals, and cuisine.
The route will begin with three weekly flights before increasing to four per week on October 1, 2027. Operated by the Airbus A321XLR, the service will make Seville Air Canada’s fifth destination in Spain and offer additional travel options for passengers and Aeroplan Members.

Air Canada Expands Its European Network
Air Canada’s new Montréal to Seville route will give travellers a direct option for reaching southern Spain without connecting through another European airport. According to the airline, it will be the only non-stop service connecting Seville with North America when it launches.
Seville attracts visitors with its rich history, vibrant culture, acclaimed cuisine and position as a gateway to Andalusia. Its attractions extend beyond the summer peak, with spring and autumn offering milder temperatures for sightseeing, festivals and outdoor activities.
The new service will strengthen Air Canada’s transatlantic network and improve access between Canada and southern Spain. It will also allow international travellers to connect through Montréal to destinations across North America, the Caribbean and Latin America.
Mark Galardo, Air Canada’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer and President of Cargo, said the route would strengthen the airline’s global network. He also stated that Air Canada is the largest airline by seats offered between Canada and Spain. The addition of Seville will expand travel options for customers and Aeroplan Members while establishing a new direct link between the city and North America.
Flights are available for booking through Air Canada’s official website and travel agents.

Airbus A321XLR Offers 2 Cabin Classes
Air Canada will operate the new route with its Airbus A321XLR aircraft, which supports the airline’s plans to expand its long-haul network using an extended-range, single-aisle aircraft.
The aircraft will feature 182 passenger seats across two cabin classes:
- 14 Signature Class seats: Lie-flat seating designed for premium travel.
- 168 Economy Class seats: Seating for passengers seeking the airline’s economy offering.
The aircraft will feature Air Canada’s Glowing Hearted design, which emphasizes comfort, care and connection. According to the airline, the design delivers a distinctly Canadian onboard experience.
The A321XLR will enable Air Canada to add another transatlantic destination while offering premium and economy seating. Its deployment builds on the airline’s wider strategy of expanding its international network with long-range narrow-body aircraft.

Connections Through Montréal Improve Access to Americas
The new route is scheduled to connect with Air Canada’s Montréal hub, providing onward travel options to destinations across North America, the Caribbean and Latin America. Connecting itineraries will depend on available flights and ticket arrangements.
Passengers connecting onward to the United States can also benefit from US customs preclearance at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport.
Eligible travellers who complete the required US entry procedures before departure can arrive at their final American destination as domestic passengers.
These connections extend the route’s value beyond passengers travelling directly between Canada and Spain. The service will also provide travellers from other markets with another way to reach Seville through Montréal.

New Route Supports Tourism and Business in Seville
The route has received support from aviation, tourism and government representatives in Canada and Spain. Their comments highlight its potential to improve international access, encourage tourism and strengthen commercial and cultural relationships.
Karl Brochu, ADM Aéroports de Montréal’s Vice President of Airport Operations and Air Services Development, welcomed the route as an addition to Montréal’s international network. He said it would reinforce the airport’s role as a gateway to Canada and expand the range of destinations available to travellers.
José Luis Sanz, Mayor of Sevilla, described the new connection as a historic step for the city. He said the route would establish a direct transoceanic link with Canada and strengthen Seville’s relationship with North America.
Sanz also highlighted the potential benefits for tourism, business, trade and cultural exchange. He identified the connection as an opportunity to attract international visitors and high-value investment while strengthening Seville’s position as an economic and tourism centre in southern Europe.
Isabel Martín Benítez, Consul for Tourism Affairs at the Embassy of Spain in Canada, welcomed the new service as another step in strengthening connectivity between the two countries. She highlighted Seville’s distinctive culture and vibrant atmosphere, along with the opportunity for Canadian travellers to explore the wider Andalusia region.
Yves Lalumière, CEO of Tourisme Montréal, said better air connectivity supports Montréal’s appeal and competitiveness as an international destination. He described the service as an important addition to the city’s travel options and emphasized its role in supporting year-round tourism growth and improving Montréal’s visibility in international markets.
Together, these responses highlight the potential benefits for both cities. Seville gains a direct air link to Canada, while Montréal expands its international network and adds another European leisure destination.

Air Canada Strengthens Its Spanish Network
The Seville service will bring Air Canada’s network in Spain to five destinations. It builds on the airline’s recent additions in southern Europe, including Palma de Mallorca and Tenerife.
Air Canada says the new route will strengthen its position in the Canada-Spain market and provide customers with another direct option for reaching southern Spain. The addition also supports its wider strategy of diversifying its European network.
The airline has announced further network changes from Montréal for summer 2027. These include new European routes to Basel-Mulhouse and Dubrovnik, alongside plans to extend services to Tenerife, Lima and Guatemala City to year-round operations.
The planned changes will expand Air Canada’s destination choices and extend the operating seasons of selected services. The Seville route adds another destination to this broader network development strategy.
