NAGOYA— Lufthansa Group will significantly expand its Japan network for the Summer 2027 schedule, responding to stronger demand with new and restored services. Lufthansa (LH) will resume its Frankfurt (FRA)–Nagoya (NGO) route three times a week from March 29, 2027, while adding a daily Frankfurt–Tokyo Narita (NRT) service from March 28.
The expansion will give Lufthansa Group up to 50 weekly flights to Japan during the summer season, covering Tokyo-Haneda, Tokyo-Narita, Osaka and Nagoya.
Alongside Lufthansa, the group’s hub airlines Austrian Airlines (OS), SWISS (LX) and ITA Airways (AZ) will contribute to the expanded schedule, strengthening the group’s position among European airline groups serving Japan.

Lufthansa Restarts Nagoya Flights
Lufthansa’s Frankfurt–Nagoya service will operate seasonally on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Flight LH736 will leave Frankfurt at 2:10 p.m. and arrive at Nagoya the following morning at 9:35 a.m., while LH737 will depart Nagoya at 11:30 a.m. and reach Frankfurt at 6:30 p.m. local time.
The route restores a direct connection between Lufthansa’s main European hub and one of Japan’s largest industrial centers.
Nagoya and the wider Aichi region are particularly important to Japan’s automotive and manufacturing industries, while the city also provides access to major destinations in central Japan.
The Frankfurt–Nagoya route will use Lufthansa’s Boeing 787-9 equipped with the airline’s Allegris cabin. The aircraft has 28 Business Class seats, 28 Premium Economy seats and 231 Economy Class seats, providing 287 seats in total.

Lufthansa’s Daily Tokyo Narita Flights
Lufthansa will also add a daily seasonal Frankfurt–Tokyo Narita service from March 28, giving passengers another option for reaching the Tokyo metropolitan area.
Flight LH710 will depart Frankfurt at 1:45 p.m. and arrive at Narita at 9:30 a.m. the following day, with LH711 leaving Narita at 11:20 a.m. and arriving in Frankfurt at 6:40 p.m.
The new Narita service will complement Lufthansa’s existing daily flights from Frankfurt and Munich to Tokyo-Haneda.
Both the Frankfurt–Narita and Frankfurt–Nagoya routes will be operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft in the Allegris configuration.

Lufthansa Group Adds Japan Capacity
SWISS will also increase its Japan operation, with up to seven weekly flights between Zurich and Tokyo-Narita during Summer 2027. The broader Lufthansa Group schedule will therefore combine services to four Japanese destinations and offer up to 50 flights per week.
The group said the expansion reflects increased demand and will provide passengers with more travel options between Japan and Europe.
Its joint-venture partner ANA will also provide additional booking options for travelers connecting to Japan and destinations beyond the country.
The new and resumed Lufthansa flights are already available for booking, allowing passengers to plan travel around the expanded Summer 2027 schedule.
