THIRUVANANTHAPURAM- Thiruvananthapuram International Airport (TRV) will gain new direct connections to Riyadh and Bahrain from October 27, 2026, as Air India Express (IX) expands its services between Kerala and the Gulf region.
The airline will operate three weekly flights to Riyadh and two weekly flights to Bahrain, adding more options for passengers travelling between southern India and the Middle East.
Bookings for the new services have opened, according to the airport announcement.
The additional routes will expand Air India Express’s presence at the Kerala capital’s airport and provide more direct travel options for expatriates, families and other passengers travelling to the Gulf.

Air India Express Riyadh Flights
Air India Express will operate its new Thiruvananthapuram–Riyadh service every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The route will establish a direct connection between Kerala’s capital and Saudi Arabia’s capital, giving passengers an alternative to itineraries involving connecting flights.
The new service will complement the airline’s existing daily flights between Thiruvananthapuram and Dammam, another important destination for travellers from Kerala working and residing in Saudi Arabia.
The additional Riyadh connection is expected to address demand for direct air travel between the two cities.
Passengers travelling to Saudi Arabia will have another option when planning journeys for work, family visits and other purposes.
The service may also reduce the need for some travellers to transit through other airports, depending on their final destinations and travel arrangements.

Bahrain Flights From October 27
The airline will also introduce a direct service between Thiruvananthapuram and Bahrain, operating every Thursday and Saturday.
The new route will add capacity to an existing connection between the two destinations, where Gulf Air already operates daily flights.
The twice-weekly schedule will provide passengers with additional choices when arranging trips between Kerala and Bahrain. Travellers will need to check the operating dates and available departure times when booking, as the new service will not operate daily.
The launch of both routes will increase Air India Express’s international connectivity from Thiruvananthapuram. The airline’s new services will operate alongside existing Gulf connections provided by other carriers, giving passengers more alternatives when comparing schedules and fares.

Thiruvananthapuram Gulf Connectivity
Thiruvananthapuram International Airport is managed by TRV (Kerala) International Airport Limited (TIAL), a special-purpose vehicle operating under Adani Airport Holdings Limited. Adani Airport Holdings is a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, part of the Adani Group.
With both routes scheduled to begin on October 27, the new services will expand the direct travel options available from Kerala to the Gulf, Telegraph India flagged.
Thiruvananthapuram International Airport currently handles more than 250 weekly air traffic movements to the Gulf region.
Its existing network connects passengers to destinations including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Doha, Muscat, Kuwait and Dammam.
The new connections will also strengthen Thiruvananthapuram’s role in serving international passenger demand from the region.
