ATLANTA- A Delta Air Lines (DL) passenger was removed from a flight at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) after employees reported that she appeared intoxicated and repeatedly refused to leave the aircraft.
The passenger said Delta’s Sky Club had served her three cocktails over three hours and threatened legal action against the airline. Police body-camera footage released on September 20 shows the confrontation escalating until officers handcuffed her.
Delta Passenger Challenges Removal Over Suspected Intoxication
The incident took place at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) on April 25, 2023. Atlanta police body-camera footage from the incident was released publicly on September 20.
Delta employees told responding officers that the passenger had been stumbling, smelled of alcohol and was refusing to leave the aircraft. The airline initially offered to rebook her if she cooperated with the removal process.
Instead, the passenger continued questioning the decision and asked why she should comply with the request to leave.
When she asked for the official reason for her removal, an employee identified suspected intoxication as the reason.
The passenger disputed that assessment and told officers that she had consumed three cocktails at a Delta Sky Club over a period of approximately three hours. She said she had receipts showing the drinks purchased at the lounge.

She also requested a breathalyzer test and explained details about her boarding process, including waiting for her assigned boarding group, View from the Wing reported.
Passenger Threatens Legal Action Against Delta
During the confrontation, the passenger repeatedly stated that she intended to pursue legal action against Delta.

The officers continued explaining that they did not initially want to arrest her. One officer specifically warned her that refusing to leave could result in an arrest.

Passenger Eventually Placed In Handcuffs
