HONG KONG— Cathay Pacific (CX) has cancelled all passenger flights to and from Dubai (DXB) and Riyadh (RUH) through November 30, 2026, as escalating tensions in the Middle East continue to affect regional air services.
The Hong Kong-based carrier said the decision was made amid the changing security situation in the region.
The suspension means passengers booked on Cathay Pacific services to either Middle Eastern hub will not be able to travel on the affected flights until services are scheduled to resume.
Cathay Pacific Cancels Flights to Gulf
Cathay Pacific confirmed that all passenger services connecting Hong Kong with Dubai and Riyadh will remain suspended through the end of November.
The airline is continuing to assess developments in the region before determining when the services can safely return.
The cancellations affect both directions of the routes, covering flights departing from Hong Kong as well as services returning from the two Middle Eastern cities.
The decision extends the disruption well beyond the immediate period of heightened regional tensions, highlighting the impact that the security situation is having on international airline schedules.
Cathay’s Passengers Can Rebook
Cathay Pacific said affected passengers will have several options for managing their disrupted journeys. Travelers can rebook their tickets, reroute their trips, or request a full refund, The Standard flagged.
The options are intended to give passengers flexibility while the airline keeps its Middle East schedule under review.
Customers with upcoming reservations should check their booking status and contact Cathay Pacific regarding the available alternatives.
The suspension also means travelers planning journeys between Hong Kong and the two Gulf hubs will need to consider alternative airlines or connecting routes during the affected period.
Cathay Reviews its Cargo Services
Cathay Pacific’s passenger operations are not the only part of its Middle East network under review.
Cathay Cargo is also monitoring regional security conditions before deciding when freighter services to Dubai and Riyadh can resume.
The cargo division said it is continuously assessing the situation and will determine an appropriate timeline for restarting its freighter operations based on developments in the region.
Cathay Pacific added that it will remain vigilant and continue monitoring geopolitical developments.
The airline said it could make further adjustments to its flight schedule depending on how the security situation develops.
