COPENHAGEN— SAS (SK) is preparing to strengthen air connectivity between Scandinavia and India with the launch of a year-round nonstop service between Copenhagen (CPH) and Mumbai (BOM) from October 1, 2026. The five-times-weekly route will be operated with an Airbus A330, restoring a direct SAS link with India after a 17-year absence.
The new service will connect Copenhagen Airport (CPH) with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM), giving travelers a direct option between Northern Europe and Mumbai, one of India’s leading commercial centers. SAS says the route is fully prepared for operation, with flights available for sale through its booking channels.

SAS Adds Mumbai Flights
The Copenhagen–Mumbai service will operate under flight numbers SK969 and SK970, with five weekly frequencies in each direction. SAS will deploy an Airbus A330 configured with 266 seats, providing long-haul capacity on the approximately 6,400-kilometer connection.
- Flights from Copenhagen will depart at 16:10 and reach Mumbai at 04:30 the following day.
- The outbound service will operate on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, while the return flight will depart Mumbai at 06:30 and arrive in Copenhagen at 12:15 on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The schedule is designed to provide a direct overnight connection to India while supporting onward travel through Copenhagen.
SAS has positioned Copenhagen as its main international gateway, linking passengers to destinations across Europe and North America.

Copenhagen Hub Growth and Connectivity
The Mumbai route adds another long-haul destination to SAS’ Copenhagen network at a time when the airline is expanding its international connectivity.
Copenhagen serves as an important transfer point for passengers traveling between Scandinavia, Europe, and long-haul markets such as New York, Boston, and Toronto.
Mumbai also offers SAS access to a major economic and financial center in India, creating opportunities for business travel as well as leisure and visiting-friends-and-relatives traffic.
The nonstop service removes the need for a European or Middle Eastern connection on the Copenhagen–Mumbai journey, making the route more convenient for passengers traveling between the two regions.
The launch also comes during SAS’ 80th anniversary year. The airline has continued to expand its intercontinental network from Copenhagen, including additional long-haul services and fleet investment aimed at strengthening its position as a global Scandinavian carrier.

SAS India Return After 17 Years
SAS’ return to India represents a significant development in its long-haul network after a 17-year gap. The airline previously served the Indian market, but the new Mumbai service establishes a direct connection with one of the country’s most important aviation and business markets.
Paul Verhagen, Chief Commercial Officer at SAS, said the airline is looking forward to welcoming passengers on the new nonstop service and described the route as an important milestone in reconnecting Scandinavia with India.
With five weekly flights and 266 seats per aircraft, the service will provide a substantial number of direct travel options between Copenhagen and Mumbai.
SAS expects the route to support stronger links between Northern Europe and India while offering passengers greater choice, reliability and connectivity through its Copenhagen network.
