KRAKOW— Passengers traveling on Ryanair (FR) flight FR6359 from Krakow Airport (KRK) to Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL) faced a delay of more than 15 hours after a technical issue disrupted operations.
The extended wait left around 150 travelers stranded inside the departure area for most of the day before the flight finally departed shortly after midnight.
The disruption also sparked criticism over the airline’s assistance during the delay.
While Ryanair issued refreshment vouchers worth 17 Polish zloty, equivalent to about £3.38, several passengers said the amount was insufficient to purchase even a single coffee at Krakow Airport, raising concerns about passenger care during lengthy delays.

Ryanair Flight Delayed Due to Technical Issue
Flight FR6359 was scheduled to depart Krakow at 8:55 a.m. on Monday, August 3, with an expected arrival in Liverpool at 10:40 a.m. local time. Instead, the aircraft remained grounded throughout the day before finally departing at approximately 12:40 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4.
The flight eventually landed in Liverpool around 2:00 a.m., more than 15 hours behind schedule. Flight tracking data confirmed the significant delay, making it one of the longest disruptions experienced by passengers on the route that day.
According to Ryanair, the delay resulted from a minor technical issue affecting the aircraft earlier in the day. The airline arranged a replacement aircraft, but sourcing and positioning the substitute aircraft extended the overall delay.
Passengers received text notifications explaining the operational problem and confirming that a replacement aircraft would operate the service once available.

Passenger Frustration At Krakow
Travelers reported spending nearly the entire day inside the airport departure area with limited information about when they would eventually leave.
Some passengers said they remained close to the boarding gate because exiting the secure area would require repeating airport security procedures.
One passenger traveling home to northwest England described the atmosphere as increasingly tense as hours passed without staff providing in-person updates.
Families with children also waited through the prolonged disruption, relying on mobile devices and handheld games to pass the time.
Passengers further criticized the value of the refreshment voucher issued during the delay.
Ryanair provided a voucher worth 17 PLN per boarding pass, but travelers noted that a coffee at the airport reportedly cost 21 PLN, leaving the voucher unable to cover even a basic beverage, Mirror reported.

Ryanair Response After Delay
Ryanair informed passengers that the disruption stemmed from a minor technical issue involving the scheduled aircraft.
The airline apologized for the inconvenience and stated that it had organized a replacement aircraft to complete the flight as quickly as possible.
The carrier also advised passengers to redeem their refreshment vouchers at participating airport outlets, noting that the vouchers could not be used onboard the aircraft.
Although the vouchers became a focal point of passenger criticism, travelers affected by long delays within Europe may also have rights under applicable passenger protection regulations depending on the final cause of the disruption and whether the delay qualifies under relevant compensation rules.
Any eligibility would be assessed separately from the refreshment assistance provided during the delay.
