NEW DELHI– Air India (AI) has introduced its brand-new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on flights between Delhi (DEL) and Toronto (YYZ), marking the debut of the airline’s latest cabin products and onboard experience in the Canadian market.
The move is part of a broader expansion that will increase capacity and premium seating on India-Canada routes during the Winter 2026-27 schedule.
The airline also announced a new seasonal non-stop service between Mumbai (BOM) and Toronto, making Air India the only carrier to offer direct flights between the two cities.
Alongside the new route, the airline will increase monthly capacity by 4,400 seats and expand premium seating to Toronto by 71%.
Air India’s Canada Network Expands
Air India’s new Mumbai-Toronto service will operate three times a week from October 25, 2026, through March 26, 2027.
The seasonal route will add nearly 2,000 seats every week between India and Canada while strengthening the airline’s presence in one of its most important long-haul markets.
The flights will be operated using upgraded Boeing 777-300ER aircraft featuring redesigned cabins. Passengers will have access to eight First Class suites with privacy doors, 40 fully flat Business Class seats, and 280 Economy Class seats.
The upgraded aircraft will also offer onboard WiFi connectivity, further enhancing the travel experience for passengers on the nearly 14-hour journey.
New Premium Cabins on Air India’s Dreamliner
Air India has already started deploying its factory-fresh Boeing 787-9 aircraft on the Delhi-Toronto route. During the Winter 2026-27 schedule, seven of the airline’s ten weekly Delhi-Toronto flights will operate with the new Dreamliners equipped with the carrier’s latest cabin interiors.
The remaining three weekly services will initially continue using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft before transitioning to the Boeing 787-9 fleet from January 2027 as additional aircraft join Air India’s fleet.
From January 2027, every Air India flight serving Toronto from both Delhi and Mumbai will feature either an all-new or significantly upgraded cabin product, providing passengers with a consistent premium experience across the network.
The fleet upgrade will allow Air India to increase premium seat availability on Toronto services by 71%, offering more First Class, Business Class, and Premium Economy seats throughout the winter travel season.
Winter Schedule for the Route
The expanded operation reflects growing travel demand between India and Canada, particularly during the festive and holiday period when passenger traffic typically peaks.
Through its hubs in Delhi and Mumbai, Air India will continue providing onward connections to major Indian cities, including Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Ludhiana, and Vadodara.
During the Winter 2026-27 season, Air India will operate 20 weekly flights between India and Canada. The schedule includes ten weekly flights between Delhi and Toronto, three weekly flights between Mumbai and Toronto, and seven weekly services linking Delhi with Vancouver.
Chief Commercial Officer Nipun Aggarwal said Canada remains one of Air India’s most significant international markets because of strong people-to-people ties.
He added that the new Mumbai-Toronto route and deployment of the airline’s newest aircraft demonstrate Air India’s commitment to strengthening its position in the competitive North American market while offering customers an improved travel experience.
