SEATTLE- A former Alaska Airlines (AS) flight attendant has filed a federal lawsuit against Alaska Airlines (AS), alleging wrongful termination after a TikTok dance video posted while she was in uniform.
The incident took place while she was on duty at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) in Seattle, Washington, where she was preparing for a scheduled flight to Houston.
The case has raised broader questions about workplace conduct policies and alleged inconsistent disciplinary action within the airline industry.
The lawsuit claims the employee, who identifies as Asian American and African American, was dismissed shortly before completing her probationary period.
She argues that her termination violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and was influenced by race and gender bias rather than legitimate policy enforcement.
The complaint also states that her performance during training ranked among the highest in her cohort. Alongside the airline, the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO has been named for allegedly failing to support her appeal process.

TikTok Video Incident Details Emerge
Court filings state that the flight attendant recorded a video of herself dancing and twerking to music while inside a grounded aircraft at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA).
The video was later posted on TikTok, where it showed her wearing her Alaska Airlines (AS) uniform during downtime while awaiting flight crew arrival.
The content reportedly included music with explicit lyrics, although the employee did not associate the post with the airline through hashtags or captions. HR Drive reported
The lawsuit claims similar social media content posted by male colleagues did not receive comparable disciplinary scrutiny. It further argues that the enforcement of social media policies was inconsistent across employees.

Termination Dispute Explained Allegations Filed
The airline terminated the employee days before her probationary period was set to end. Alaska Airlines (AS) cited violations of social media and professional conduct standards as the basis for dismissal, according to the complaint.
However, the plaintiff argues that her probationary status was used as a justification after the decision had already been influenced by discriminatory considerations. She claims that subjective policy interpretation allowed inconsistent disciplinary outcomes.
The lawsuit further alleges that her race and gender contributed to heightened scrutiny of her conduct compared to other employees.

Union Representation Claims Dispute Allegations Case
The lawsuit also names the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO, alleging failure of fair representation. The plaintiff claims the union declined to assist her in appealing the termination decision.
She argues that the lack of union support weakened her ability to challenge the dismissal process effectively.
The complaint suggests that procedural protections were not applied equally, raising further concerns about internal review fairness within airline employment structures.
Neither Alaska Airlines (AS) nor the union has issued a public response regarding the allegations at the time of filing.
