ABU DHABI— Condor (DE) and Etihad Airways (EY) have expanded their strategic partnership with a new interline growth phase that includes a fresh Abu Dhabi (AUH)–Bangkok (BKK) route and an enhanced frequent flyer cooperation.
The announcement was made during the IATA Annual General Meeting in Rio de Janeiro (GIG), where both carriers outlined their joint network strategy. The development marks a significant step in their ongoing collaboration across multiple regions.
Condor and Etihad highlighted that the expansion strengthens connectivity between Europe, the Middle East, and Asia through Abu Dhabi as a central hub.

New Abu Dhabi Bangkok Route Launch
Condor will launch a new daily Abu Dhabi–Bangkok service operated with the Airbus A330neo.
The route will operate between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Bangkok (BKK), supporting both point-to-point demand and onward connectivity, while improving schedule efficiency for long-haul operations.
The airline will continue its nonstop Frankfurt–Bangkok service from Frankfurt (FRA), ensuring the new route adds capacity rather than replacing existing operations.
The Abu Dhabi–Bangkok flight will form part of Condor’s Fifth Freedom rights structure, allowing passengers to travel between two foreign countries on a service linked to its wider network, AeroTelegraph flagged.
The aircraft will include a short turnaround in Abu Dhabi for servicing and operational preparation before continuing its schedule.
Condor will also retain flexibility for passengers to book individual segments of the new route, offering greater choice and improved connectivity options for travelers across regions.
The partnership builds on their agreement, first established in December 2025, and focuses on improving passenger access across long-haul markets. It also enhances coordination between Condor’s European operations and Etihad’s global network.

Loyalty Expansion and Integration
Condor and Etihad have introduced an expanded frequent flyer agreement that integrates their loyalty ecosystems.
Etihad Guest members will be able to redeem miles across Condor-operated flights, including long-haul leisure destinations across Europe, North America, and the Caribbean, with improved cabin upgrade options and partner rewards.
The agreement also extends earning and redemption opportunities across both airlines’ networks. It strengthens the existing codeshare structure, allowing smoother connections across multiple continents through Abu Dhabi.
The collaboration aims to deliver more consistent benefits for frequent travelers across both carriers, while also improving digital booking integration and customer service alignment.

Hub Strategy and Network Outlook
Both airlines emphasized Abu Dhabi’s growing role as a global aviation hub supporting long-haul connectivity.
The partnership positions the UAE capital as a strategic interchange point between Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia, while also reinforcing its role as a fast-growing transit gateway for premium and leisure travel demand across multiple continents.
It also enhances Condor’s expanding long-haul presence through its Abu Dhabi-based operations, with improved aircraft utilization and coordinated scheduling between both carriers.
The expanded network is expected to improve access to destinations such as Zanzibar and Salalah through improved connecting flows.
Etihad already operates multiple services to Bangkok, but the addition of Condor-operated flights increases flexibility and capacity in the market.
Both airlines indicated that further integration of routes and loyalty programs is likely as the partnership evolves, with potential expansion into additional seasonal destinations and deeper schedule alignment.
