HONG KONG- Cathay Pacific (CX) will introduce its refreshed Aria Suite Business Class to Perth from 26 October 2026, giving passengers on selected flights to Hong Kong a new premium cabin experience.
The airline will deploy retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on selected CX171 and CX140 services between Perth Airport (PER) and Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) through 27 March 2027.
The cabin upgrade forms part of Cathay Pacific’s broader fleet and product investment as the Hong Kong-based carrier marks its 80th anniversary.
The refreshed aircraft will feature upgraded Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy cabins, alongside a new inflight entertainment system.
Cathay Pacific Aria Suite Arrives in Perth
Cathay Pacific’s refurbished Boeing 777-300ER will offer 45 Aria Suite Business Class seats arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration.
The layout provides direct aisle access for Business Class passengers while retaining the reverse-herringbone design used by Cathay’s existing premium cabin.
The updated suites add privacy doors, soft LED lighting, wireless charging and improved storage. Passengers will also receive access to a 24-inch 4K entertainment screen, which Cathay describes as the largest screen it has installed on an aircraft.
Cathay has also refreshed its Premium Economy and Economy cabins, creating a more comprehensive cabin upgrade rather than limiting the changes to Business Class.
The refurbished aircraft will carry 361 passengers across the three classes, according to the airline’s stated configuration.
Perth Flights Expand Global Travel Connections
The upgraded aircraft will appear on selected CX171 and CX140 services during the period from 26 October 2026 to 27 March 2027.
Cathay’s Perth-Hong Kong operation has already expanded significantly, with the airline moving to double-daily services on the route.
Perth has particular importance in Cathay Pacific’s Australian network because it was the airline’s first Australian passenger destination.
Its inaugural Australian service connected Perth with Hong Kong through Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur more than 55 years ago.
The stronger schedule also improves access to Hong Kong as a connecting hub for travellers from Western Australia. Cathay’s network provides onward connections to destinations across Asia, Europe and North America, reinforcing Perth’s role within the airline’s international network.
Cathay Investment Plans Drive Global Growth
The Perth cabin rollout forms part of a wider investment programme worth around HK$150 billion across Cathay Group’s fleet, cabins, lounges and digital systems.
The group plans to add 150 new aircraft and build a network covering 150 destinations over the next decade, subject to market conditions.
Cathay’s regional general manager for Southeast Asia and Oceania, Aldric Chau, said the new cabins were designed to improve comfort and provide greater attention to detail throughout the passenger experience.
The airline views the Perth launch as another milestone in its long-standing relationship with Western Australia.
The expansion also follows Australia’s decision to increase the permitted passenger capacity for Hong Kong services to 84 flights per week, up from 70, while removing limits on cargo services, Australian Aviation reported.
The change provides additional room for airlines to strengthen links between Australia and Hong Kong.
